I made it through selection 08-04 and i got my first choice --18d. I am planning on doing the SOMC prep course from the internet and I also plan on buying a anatomy book, which I've been told is a coloring book? I think its a Gray's Anatomy. Is there anything else a future 18d can do to improve his chances? Thanks

Hi Odin.well done on selection!
Do not get the Gray's Anatomy-that is not the coloring book.
It is simply called "The Anatomy Coloring Book". I would also recommend it's companionj-"The Physiology Coloring Book"
That being said, do not skimp on your "colors"-spend about 20 dollars and get a quality set of colored pencils. It will be well worth the effort and memory.
Stay away from crayons and pastels...just get some good colored pencils and use them.

The correspondence course is a good starting point. Between that and the coloring books, you should be pretty busy. Don't bog yourself down with a bunch of extra "KNOWLEDGE" that will be out of file in your noodle.
A tabers cyclopedic medical dictionary is a quality first purchase as well.

Good luck...study hard.

Dude, you are like an hour or two from one of the best medical schools in the world. Get a buddy or two, a car and drive to Durham. Go to the Duke campus med school bookstores. Say hi to the co-eds. Get some sun, have fun. Do not drink and drive or do anything else stupid. Its a good constructive outing and a nice way to see some beautiful country.

Purchase the HUMAN 3D a 7CD set or/and Discovering The HUMAN BODY by Webster's 4CD DELUXE EDITION.

Hope this helps some.

Welcome aboard and congrats on getting 18D!

The big tall red headed TAC you see at SOMTB is my Brother-In-Law. He's a nice guy but don't piss him off. :)

Stay focused. You'll be putting those skills you learn to use in some combat zone in the future.

I wish you the best.

Thanks guys
I come from a medical family so hopefully some of this stuff comes naturally but I am sure I will be using this board as a reference point at least a few times in the next year or until i finish the delta course. Thanks again guys.
