"I am ashamed to even be american," he wrote in what would be his final email to them. "These people need help, yet what they get is the most conceited country in the world telling them that they are nothing and that they are stupid, that they have no idea how to live."

Suggest?

He did desert.

I don't know what he was thinking when he went for his little walk but that part was deserting.

Bet he's wondering when he'll be able to get a good cheeseburger and how much he'll be able to sell his story for.

And IIRC this "conceited country" has promoted him a couple of times since he deserted - didn't even have to go before a promotion board.

I'm getting ready to go to BNOC. And I have to complete my Structured Self-Development on AKO. Yawn. . .
Well . . . some of it is actualy interesting for example the block on Personnel Recovery Concepts and Excecution.
the Philosophy behind Personnel Recovery is it all comes down to Leadership and Accountability (what doesn't in the Army?)
> It is based directly on the Soldier's Creed
> It is to ensure the enemy is denied the ability to exploit IMDC personnel to the detriment of US Forces (I did not know what IMDC was : Isolated, Missing, Detained, Captured)
> PR increases Unit Morale by demonstrating we will do everything possible to recover IMDC personnel.
> There was this picture of a huge picture of Bowie (taken in better days) that is prominently displayed where the Pentagon Movers and Shakers can't miss it.

Personally, I have it on pretty good authority what happened that night. And for a long time I was "F this guy, not one REAL Soldier goes in harms way blah, lah, blah. . . "
Well . . . until he gets back he's most definatlly Isolated, Missing, and Detained if not Captured. (Probably a little Stockholm-y from the read)

Point is: I don't care a bit about this guy personally. But I'm damn glad that institutionally The ARMY cares and won't lose faith. Cuz I know if they'll stand by him they'll stand by me and you.

When I was in Afghanistan I ran around with CA folks and I think we were charmed because we easily could of been scooped up (. . . I remember this time with my terp, it was gettin' on towards lunch time . . .)
