View Full Version : Obama Not Scheduled to Commemorate D-Day
Well, his kook base doesn't give a f.ck about it; why should he? Off to the Left Coast instead:
http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2012/06/06/obama-scheduled-commemorate-dday/
It’s D-Day and President Obama is hitting the beaches – of sunny California!
Instead of scheduling a brief event to mark the 68th anniversary of America’s brutal landing on the shores of Normandy, Obama is already on his way to San Francisco, where he will hold two fundraisers before moving on to Beverly Hills to stage two more.
Obama failed to mark D-Day with either a speech or a written proclamation both last year or the year before. He did give a speech in 2009, the 65th anniversary of the event.
First Lady Michelle Obama, who has made much of her “Joining Forces” campaign to support military families, also has nothing planned for D-Day. She’ll be in New York City for a fundraiser and then in Philadelphia to meet with campaign volunteers.
Obama’s failure to mark D-Day in any significant way is both a shame and a political mistake.
According to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, two critical swing states – Florida and Pennsylvania, are among the top five states in terms of veterans’ population. Within the top twelve are four others – Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina – all states Obama desperately needs to carry.

A big thanks for reminding us what a great guy Barry is.. NOT
Ehh ..... doesn't surprise me at all about this guy. He didn't kill Hitler, so why should he give credit, where credit is DUE, for something he had no part of ..... even if he is OUR CinC. ..... and just this once, I'm going to "borrow" (ie; steal) Richard's line ...... And So It Goes
Actually - maybe yesterday was a D-Day of a sort. Instead of landing in Normandy, we stormed Wisconsin. November 2010 was the result of an awakening tide. In the interim, more people were educated, more resources were allocated, and with the support of the rest of the country - the people of Wisconsin stood firm. We the people are in their strongholds, these are our backyards, and we're not going to allow them to piss on us any longer.
We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.
Maybe somebody moved the rocks Clinton "found" on the beach and used to form a cross.
Lord save me, the picture of him and Hillery - in that wrappy thingy - hugging on the beach just popped into my mind.
So the President figured - no good photo op - no visit.
Actions speak louder than words. Carry on, Barry. Dig yourself a bigger hole. And may it cave in on you come November.

Really, what on Earth could he say that would be of any value? Maybe another story of a relative that did something during WWII, that really did not happen.

Maybe none of the vets invited him to their party. I can't imagine why. Just sayin'...

I speak for myself when I say he is a tool.

Can't wait for the day we celebrate VO day.
We can only hope that he is not around to blow off the 69th.....
People are starting to come to their senses, hopefully he won't be.

That was my first thought, as well. He can't top the "spontaneous" creation of a rock cross, and can't think of anything to top it off. Maybe he'll play another 18 holes "in honor" of our heroes.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Just one week old, June already is proving a cruel month for President Barack Obama and the Democrats - and it could get a lot worse.
The political blows from Tuesday's bitter loss in Wisconsin's gubernatorial recall and from last week's abysmal unemployment numbers, bad as they were, could multiply before the month is out.
The Supreme Court will pass judgment shortly on the president's signature legislative achievement - the 2010 law overhauling the nation's health care system - and also will decide on his administration's challenge to Arizona's tough immigration law. If Chief Justice John Roberts and the court strike down all or part of the health care law, it could demoralize Democrats who invested more than a year - and quite a few political careers - to secure the bill's passage.
And in Arizona, aside from the big immigration case, the Democrats are fighting to hold onto the House seat of Gabrielle Giffords, who resigned in January to focus on recovering from her gunshot wound. In next Tuesday's special election, former Giffords aide Ron Barber is locked in a close race with Republican Jesse Kelly, who lost to her in 2010 by just 4,156 votes.
Facing an election-year summer fraught with political peril, the Democrats are struggling to revive supporters' spirits and counteract developments that could energize Republicans and solidify public opinion that the country is on the wrong track and in need of new leadership.
In a video pep talk to supporters this week, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina acknowledged the challenge. "We need to stay focused, work hard and ignore the ups and downs," he said.
Even before the votes were counted in Republican Gov. Scott Walker's win over Democrat Tom Barrett Tuesday night, there was hand-wringing and second-guessing among Democrats on Capitol Hill.
- The jobs numbers have them worried that they'll be running on a weak economy, with the White House - and them - getting the blame.
Well, Duh.

He doesn't ignore it. He participated for 65th and 70th anniversary. Looking back, that seems to be the norm. He has enough negatives without inventing them.

He went to the 70th? I thought this was the 70th and the reason it was such a big deal was time's just about up for the WW II guys.

BHO is the only POTUS to have attended such a D-Day commemorative event in Normandy more than once - 2009 and 2014.
http://online.wsj.com/articles/veterans-world-leaders-remember-d-day-1402046938
The first POTUS to attend such an event was RWR for the 40th in 1984, WJC for the 50th in 1994, GWB for the 60th in 2004, and BHO for the 65th in 2009 and the 70th in 2014.
