I'm taking over this year as Scoutmaster of my son's Boy Scout Troop. Due to some last minute changes we have to adjust our summer camp plan. We are from the Tampa area in Florida and are traveling to Blue Ridge Scout Reservation in Virginia. I am looking for somewhere to camp with 17 boys and 5 adults on the night of 16 June. We will be traveling I-77. We are looking for someplace within approximately 30 minutes of I-77 between Columbia SC and Charlotte NC. Any suggestions for campgrounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Dreher Island on lake Murray just north of Columbia has a nice campground. I think they have a primitive area for groups like yours. It's slightly out of your way, but very nice. the boys will love it, I know mine never want to leave.

Lake Wateree is smaller and less out of your way, but I don't think they have a primitive area. call the parks and see what they have to say.

It's a shame that you're going I-77, because right off I-95 in Florence SC is a KOA campground that my grandfather used to help run. He's long since passed away but name dropping that name would probably get you a good rate :)
