View Full Version : Trayvon Martin Day declared at D.C. elementary school
Malcolm X Elementary Principal J. Harrison Coleman says that she hopes the lesson will help reduce the needless violence and bullying in the community.
"The children at Malcolm X know the name Trayvon Martin," Coleman said. "They know the incident. They know because of what they see in the news and what they experience every day."
Coleman said that every adult who attended the seminar would receive an Arizona Iced Tea and each student would get a bag of Skittles.
The staff here hopes this day makes the students at Malcolm X understand that someone always cares. Coleman specifically is calling on more parents to volunteer and get involved.
"We want to send a message to stop the bullying and bring about a happy spirit," Coleman said. "A sense of bonding within the community and within the school.
"I think it's important for them to understand that life is precious."

I guess no one(Libs)has bothered to look a the video showing Limmerman's blows to the front and back of his head and the reason why they didn't arrest him initially...:mad:

lol There will be a "Trayvon Martin Day" if Zimmerman's acquitted.
I'm betting the case gets thrown out at Zimmerman's immunity hearing and never gets to a jury. Cops don't make a habit of letting murders go home especially when they have a confession and murder weapon.

I think there were two lives lost that night.
Neither would have been lost if TM just kept walking.
Next up?: A TM statue? A specially-marked, collector edition Skittles package? National TM holiday?
Shoot, it's 3:00 here, I think I'll take the rest of the day off, in memory of TM.
My 2-cents.
This does a huge disservice to MLK Day, IMO.

The 'zimmerman' shooting stance.
When laying on back getting ass kicked.
Using strong hand only, draw and muzzle press opponent.
Warning to Semi-auto carriers: Please ensure not to push too forcefully against the enemy combatant as you may cause your semi automatic to not remain in battery causing the weapon to not fire.
Please note: the gun fight is not over until the media attempts to convict you and you are then acquitted in a court of law.

Yep! If O'Mara requests one and wins, Zimmerman will have immunity from both criminal and civil prosecution. Z will likely have to testify at this pretrial hearing, so O'Mara is probably going over all the prosecutions evidence first before requesting the hearing.
I agree, this should have just gone to a grand jury to begin with and would likely be over and done with.

I wouldn't be so sure. The defense does not get input in grand jury proceedings. The jury gets to see only what the prosecutor decides to present. If the prosecutor is politically motivated, the grand jury could be presented evidence that would make it appear as an open and shut case of capital murder. It could be argued that the prosecutor did not want to take it to the grand jury because after the fact she could not be questioned about why some really damning evidence was not presented. I read a good chunk of the 183 pages of discovery that were presented. Every cop on the scene that observed Zimmerman (there were at least 4 that I remember that noted a broken or bloodied nose, and lacerations to the back of his head). There were several more that cordoned off the area and began processing the scene that did not directly come in contact with Zimmerman, so commentary on his injuries was absent. Additionally, there were several witness statements that said words to the effect that when they first noticed the incident...Martin was straddled over Zimmerman beating him in the face. A couple also stated they heard Zimmerman yelling for help as he was being assaulted (before the shot). You can definitely understand the prosecutor is under some pretty serious political pressure to go to trial...:munchin

There are some really dumb-assed people out there. How can anyone think this was a good idea? As idiotic as the idea to have a Trayvon Martin day at school, that pales in comparison.
