Not one credible news source has reported it; likely a hoax, some fear mongering. All of the links I could find were gun sites, teaparty sites and the eutimes source that was originally cited.

...and the CIA and NSA buildings? Get outta town, you can't even get into some places in those buildings with a TS and they are going to let a foreign government take them over? Don't think so...

The Russians Are Coming! First Joint 'Top Gun' Drills To Be Held In US!
RT, 25 Apr 2012

For the first time in history, Russian and American airborne forces will hold joint drills in the US. The anti-terror exercises scheduled for May 2012 will get off to a flying start with a tactical landing operation and “terrorist” camp raid.

*“This is the first time such an event is being held,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Col. Aleksandr Kucherenko stressed, announcing the plan. “The Russian airborne will contribute a special task group that will exercise with US special service weapons.”

The drills were arranged by the Russian Airborne Command and a US military delegation in Moscow last December.

Russian soldiers will receive preparatory training in Colorado’s Fort Carson with the US weaponry and equipment they are to use during the operation. The drills include parachuting, operation planning, reconnaissance, assault operations and evacuations by helicopter.

“According to the exercise scenario, soldiers of the two countries will hold a tactical airborne operation, including reconnaissance of an imaginary terrorists' camp and a raid,” Colonel Kucherenko revealed.

The drills will take place between May 24 and 31. But it’s not all work: on May 27, the Russian paratroopers will get a chance to unwind at a baseball game in Colorado Springs.

From The Blaze.com

"Update: A spokesperson with the University of Colorado-Denver has responded to The Blaze saying they have not heard of such an exercise where drone technology operated by the university would be used."

The Russian military is in serious need of help, so an offer of CT training hosted in the US isn't out of the realm of possible especially as we try to improve mil-to-mil ties (the most reliable inter-government diplomacy we have at the moment with Russia is in mil channels) The details of any such combined training that may be happening may have been twisted beyond reality by leaks through the Russian conspiracy crowd which is as nutty as ours and even more publicly accepted.

A scenario where a simulated major facility (such as an airport, or an agency HQ, ...) needs to be retaken from terrorists by a gov't mil force would be a realistic way to train Russian forces in the US on how to retake a nuclear C2 facility in their own country, for example, if it were overtaken by those pesky Chechens.

If they do come somebody better notify the local Class VI to stock up ahead of time.

As usual, the MSM is bien jodido (or however the sovietskis say it). The tinfoil crowd is going hog wild, inflating speculation into fantasy. This "exercise" is part of a routine small unit exchange and has been in planning for "a while". Personally, I would like to go on the reciprocal trip (required by law).

I've been practicing. Besides - Wodka is clear, I might be able to fake it if I stick to just enough to sterilize the tap water. :p

Amen to that.
Too bad they fall through so much. I went TDY to Kyiv and Moscow last month, and even with visa apps being submitted in Dec our official passports had to be overnighted to us the day before our flight over. But at least we went and returned with hangovers, Makarov shaped vodka flasks, and no unpaid pesky escort service bills.

If you ever get paranoid that you're drinking too much vodka, just chug a half-pint of Popov as fast as possible; your anxiety will quickly disappear. :D

<------ (Adjusting tin foil hat)

Hummmmmm ..... looks like DIA will be busy a week before this excersise.

Got this email from one of my Paramedic instructors a week ago.

Greetings All,

Please feel free to forward to your students and faculty. If they are employed by City, County, State, or Federal government, I can transport them by air. If they are non-government (students), I can transport them by ground ambulance.

** Looking for Air and Ground Transport Volunteers **

Greetings All,

The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) will be conducting a full-scale disaster exercise at Denver International Airport on Wednesday, May 16th 2012. At this year’s exercise, we will be transporting 200 patients to 15 metro area hospitals from 0900 to 1700 hrs. Transport resources include one C-130 military cargo plane, 10 ambulances, and 9 helicopters from AirLife, MedEvac, AirLink, and the National Guard.

We are looking for volunteer "disaster patients" to be transported from Denver Intl Airport to a metro-area hospital in an ambulance, medical helicopter, or military blackhawk. All volunteers will be returned to DIA at the end of the day, and lunch will be provided.

Here is an outline of how your day will flow.

Early arrival at DIA (time to be announced)

Check-In for assignment to Staging Area

Patients loaded onto C-130 cargo plane (plane will not take-off)

Exercise Start

Patients off-loaded from C-130 and assigned to medical treatment area

Patients assigned to an air or ground transport resource

Patients loaded in ambulance or helicopter and transported to metro area hospital

At hospital, patients are processed through the Emergency Room (as a continuation of the drill)

Patients returned to DIA

End of Day (approximately 5:00pm)

If you're interested in participating, please reply to this email address: *************** (with your name, date of birth, and department that you work for) so I can add you to the roster. Please note that personal information (name and date of birth) will only be released to the National Guard if the volunteer is transported by military helicopter.

Feel free to forward this invite to all City, County, State, and Federal employees.

Thanks,

Mike Judy

That's because the truth is a moving target and the exercise dates have shifted (and may shift again). Tinfoil hat types want everything locked in concrete; otherwise they might need more than two dendrites firing simultaneously.

Edited to add: Because this is the internet and everybody has an opinion (informed or not) the following caveat is provided for those who actually care about the truth. ALL exercises require extensive coordination. This coordination is a matter of public record both in the affected civilian jurisdiction and through the Public Affairs Office of the involved military units. Accredited journalists (and probably the general public if tactful and persistant) can contact their local government or the nearby military installation and request a press packet that will clearly explain the exercise (any exercise) and its objectives. (Said press packet only being as good as the most recent update - after all s**t does happen that changes the "truth".) I will now return you to your regularly scheduled conspiracy theory.

Wolverenes!

Ok a bit outdated. I can hear the stories now. I am sure the russians coyld use some training but their alpha team did a good job at that school a few years ago. Yea they lost hostages but that was a real shit sandwich with thungs wired with explosives like they were.

That was not what I have read.

Just curious, can anyone here comment on what their alpha teams look like structure and experience wise? After events in Georgia I recall some shakeups due to a couple inexperienced leaders being put in places they weren't ready for. I know the Russian military overall has seen a lot of turmoil with officer trainees getting re-programmed into NCO slots and extensive officer corps cuts (although mostly at the crusty strap-hanger colonel level). As an air guy I've looked at their air component recapitalization statements (as long as high fuel export prices support it), but haven't seen much written on what they're doing with their top tier ground forces. What's your take on how the reduction from two to one year general service conscription might affect the non-conscript alpha teams?

I heard that, during CQB, they kick schoolhouse doors in, segregate the students, and kiss all the young boys on their navels.

What did you hear? I know there was a big stir because they used their super secret gas. I guess that wasn't the school but theater I am thinking about.

Not to answer for TR but have you read this (http://www.dps.mo.gov/homelandsecurity/safeschools/documents/Beslan%20-%20Lessons%20Learned.pdf)?

There is a site xxxxagenturaxxxx dot ru (obviously remove the x's) that is better in Russian than English, IMO and the topic is their special services. (Mods, I didn't want to link directly to a RU site.)

Terror at Beslan is a really good insight to what happened there in 2004. John Giduck gives a really good eye opener to what could happen here in the states.

“The Russian soldiers are here as invited guests of the U.S. government; this is part of a formal bilateral exchange program between the U.S. and Russia that seeks to develop transparency and promote defense reform,” Cmdr. Wendy L. Snyder, U.S. Defense Press Officer for policy, told The New American in an e-mail. “This is the first time that American and Russian special operations troops have participated in a bilateral exercise.”

http://www.prisonplanet.com/russian-troops-to-target-terrorists-in-america-as-part-of-drill.html
It is important to add that a story circulating which attempts to piggy-back off these confirmed drills in claiming that the U.S. has given Russian troops permission to “take and hold Denver airport” comes from a notorious disinformation source which routinely puts out bogus articles and as such should be completely disregarded as a hoax. Unfortunately, Glenn Beck’s The Blaze and others have bought the scam, which takes away from the importance of the drills which are fully confirmed.
