A million ain't what it used to be.
A million ain't what it used to be.
She only got 700k; took a lump sum.
She needs to be cut off. This is ridiculous.
Whatever you do don't tell Rush he may hurt someone's feelings over this...how's a girl to make ends meet?

:D:D:D
I have one home with a mortgage, a 12 year old car, (paid for) and bills, I do not get food stamps. Guess I'm gonna have to quit my job. That might not work out to well for her, one less taxpayer to help foot her food stamp bill. I guess she's one of those folks that the Secy. of Agriculture is so proud of, one of the record number of Americans on FOOD STAMPS!
Hey, if I won a million dollars, I'd be unemployed too.
Seriously, this woman doesn't need a handout, she needs an education on handling her finances.
Maybe lottery winners should be given an IQ test before they get the money. :p

UPDATE:
Michigan cuts off food aid for $1-million lottery winner
By Michael Muskal

Beware of too much good luck, warns a classic Greek myth – a lesson that a Michigan woman who won a $1-million state lottery jackpot has learned the hard way.
Michigan’s Department of Human Services has cut off $200 a month in food aid to Amanda Clayton in the wake of media reports that she had won $1 million in the state lottery in September. To make matters worse for Clayton, who lives in Lincoln Park near Detroit, her case has been turned over to state anti-fraud officials.
"DHS relies on clients being forthcoming about their actual financial status,” Department of Human Services Director Maura D. Corrigan said in a prepared statement. “If they are not, and continue to accept benefits, they may face criminal investigation and be required to pay back those benefits.”

I bet she's back on within 4 years - if that - because she's broke - and still without a job.

Heh-heh...roger that. :D
A lawyer for a Michigan woman who continued to get food stamps after winning a $1 million lottery jackpot said his client plans to fight welfare fraud charges.
Amanda Clayton, 25, of Lincoln Park stood silently Tuesday at her arraignment in Lincoln Park's 25th District Court. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf.
Defense lawyer Stanley Wise said he hopes to have charges dismissed at her next court hearing April 24. He didn't elaborate.
The Michigan attorney general's office earlier in the day announced two felony charges against Clayton. She was arrested Monday. The charges are punishable by up to four years in prison.
"It's simply common sense that million-dollar lottery winners forfeit their right to public assistance," Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette said in a statement Tuesday. "We will continue to work with local, state and federal authorities to uphold state laws intended to ensure wise stewardship of taxpayer dollars."
Clayton chose a $700,000 lump sum, before taxes, last fall after winning the jackpot on "Make Me Rich!" a Michigan lottery game show. She continued to receive $200 a month in food stamps, as well as medical assistance benefits.
"I thought that they would cut me off, but since they didn't, I thought maybe it was OK because I'm not working," she said in March.

I'm not sure if buying a 1 million dollar house when you've only won a million dollars (less after taxes AND cash option penalties) is the smartest thing to do. There's no point in wasting time taking her off of food stamps. She'll probably be applying for them again in a couple months...

No amount of money can fix "stupid". I agree, she'll be back on welfare soon.
sterilize her. "One generation of idiots is enough".

Wow that is just cold. I may not like the actions of some people, but i don't rejoice in their passing.

Agree.
Amazing (maybe not)....win a million dollars, and it solves none of your problems.
