While searching for information on the Army virtual world resiliency training, I came across this website. Are the views expressed here commonplace? I've never heard such despicable trash before, it's hard for me to imagine that these can be common opinions of the American public.

You hear about the public mistreating veterans returning from Vietnam, are we headed there again with OIF/OEF, or the GWOT?
The above referenced site belongs to one Roedy Green, a Canadian national living in Victoria, BC.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roedy Green (born Munroe Frederic Compton Green on February 4, 1948) is a Canadian programmer, independent computer consultant, and activist. He is well-known on the Internet for his Java & Internet Glossary, and his popular essay How to Write Unmaintainable Code.
Roedy began his programming career in 1963 (at the then unheard-of age of 15), writing Fortran timetable scheduling software for the West Vancouver Secondary School.[1]
In August 1969, he came out as gay. In 1971, based on his experiences, he self-published the booklet "A Guide For The Naive Homosexual" (also known as "the blurb"), and became involved in the founding of the Gay Alliance Toward Equality (GATE), later serving as its second chairman (August 1971 to July 1972).[2][dead link]
In 1979, he worked with John C. Lilly on Project JANUS, writing hardware interface software and a dolphin-controlled Etch-A-Sketch. Later, as part of volunteer work for The Hunger Project, he created the programming language Abundance.
Roedy contracted HIV in 1985, and maintains a wide variety of resources on his website for people seeking more information about this disease.
Due to his sometimes fierce style of debate in subjects such as whale hunting and USA military operations he has become a controversial figure and has faced accusations of racism and despise against war victims and their families.
Hell really, really, hath no fury like a women scorned...and with AIDS.

"Watch a video of the tail end of the trial of Jeff Dahmer. He was a serial killer who killed a number of American teenagers. The mothers of the victims screamed and hurled obscenities at him. The families of your husband’s victims will feel this way about him and you also for egging him on, though they may never get the opportunity to confront you both. Strangers unrelated to the victims will also hate you and hold you in contempt for what you have done. There is no way you will ever convince any of these people to forgive you. You will be cursed in the strongest imaginable ways. People will pray daily for generations for you to be tortured in hell. Murdering, especially kids, is simply not acceptable. You are a monster if you try to claim otherwise."
Comparing our vets to jeffery dahmer would have gained wider coverage in the 60's. So glad we have out grown that impulsive need.

I apologize if this thread has offended anyone here personally. It was not meant to be inflammatory, and I should have hesitated and elaborated my thoughts before posting.
I am aware there are many Vietnam veterans on this forum, as well as many members with much more thorough understanding of history than I possess. My post was intended to ask the opinion of these members on the causes of public opinion backlash during the Vietnam war era, and to ask these members if they see that phenomenon occurring again with regards to OIF/OEF.
I was not aware when I began this thread that the individual responsible for the above linked website was not an American citizen. I noticed the websites counter had ticked over 186,000 views, and (possibly erroneously) that the high number of views indicated return viewers and folks who agreed with what this man had to say.
Again, however, these are not excuses, and I apologize if this post was inappropriate.

You didn't offend anyone
FWIW - one member of this BB found a post by another member to be objectionable.
In today's world, I recommend everyone becoming familiar with the definition of satire and its use.

Wow - talk about going off topic... why would anyone discuss that here?
There was a spat? I learned something a long time ago: Sticks and stones may hurt me, but the Internet is just the Internet. Again, no worry's.

Yeah, that's a lame comparison. The US Military kills people in war, but we haven't been eating them afterwards for some time now. ;)
If we have, the marine corps will post it on youtube shortly.
