And yet another reason to be ashamed of being from NJ...
http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/16/showbiz/jersey-houston-honor-reax/index.html
"In the event of the death of a present or former official of the government of any State, territory, or possession of the United States, the Governor of that State, territory, or possession may proclaim that the National flag shall be flown at half-staff," it states. A later amendment to the code included "the death of a member of the Armed Forces from that jurisdiction."
This is serious BS!

She was a crackhead and is no better than any of the others who die from similar causes. While she had a great voice she was hardly a person that should have been looked up to and is far from deserving of this honor.

If only Ms. Houston had had the common courtesy to address her demons the way entertainers used to back in the good old days, with cigarettes, booze, plenty of charred red meat, and press releases.
FWIW, Ms. Houston was high post. She was a basehead, not a crackhead <<LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkU19uj8GqQ&feature=related)>>.

Governor Christie has just limited his political future to only those jobs within the state of New Jersey.
Just by way of comparison, were flags lowered in NJ (any and all exits) when Frank Sinatra (born in Hoboken) died????
Personally, the US flag is lowered all too often these days, thereby reducing the significance of such an act.

I heard there was a Candlelight vigil for Whitney Houston.....
This is stupid, she is not deserving of this particular honor. At all.
Stay classy, NJ.
Bad call by the Governor, keep in mind that just about everything he does from here forward is done with 2016 in mind. That may explain this nonsense.

By 2016 nobody will remember this decision; It'S the ECONOMY, & what will be the price of gas that will be important in 2016...Regard's TK

Some us will remember.

He just lost all five of my votes...
Un-real, what was Christie thinking? Obviously he wasn't. Had this been a democrat governor I am sure most of us would not have been surprised.
