7 shootings IMHO seems like a lot for a police officer (not that I would know), but if they are all justified, why the fuss?

If you don't want to get shot, don't threaten a police officer with a weapon.

"My concern is that he seems to shoot first and ask questions later and has been supported in this policy," Leonard said. "I don't think he's going after innocent citizens, however, if you find yourself in a precarious situation, he seems to err on the side of escalating the violence."

Well in a life or death situation he chose life.

Scottsdale Officer's Past Scrutinized after 7th Shooting

SCOTTSDALE - The Scottsdale police officer who shot and killed a suspect Tuesday night has been involved in 7 shootings -- 6 of them deadly.

It’s a number that surprises even some of the most veteran law enforcement officers.

Police tell us they received reports about 50-year-old John Loxas threatening neighbors with a gun. When they arrived to a home near Hayden and McKellips they found Loxas standing in the doorway -- holding his 9-month-old grandson in his arms.

Loxas reached down, and that's when Officer James Peters, a 12-year veteran, opened fire killing him.

The baby was unharmed.

Police later searched the home and found a loaded pistol a few feet away from his body, along with a shotgun, ammunition, and an explosive.
Police say Officer Peters and another officer reported seeing a black object in Loxas's hands just before the shooting.

Actually, its not a lot of shootings to be involved in. I've known several who've been involved in more - none are trouble magnets. Most are the exact type of person you want responding when its your daughter, wife or family member on the wrong end of a violent felony.

They are not the ones pulling solo females over over for bs activity, sitting out district assignments for hours, driving around with their car windows up, or standing in the rear when the donneybrook breaks out. Most that I've know are quiet, aggressive cops who respond to as many man with a gun, robberys, and agg assault calls as possible, mostly to back up other cops.

I would be making a very safe assumption that in most major cities, especially in certain areas - North Philly, East Division, West etc. some of the local inhabitants present an almost nightly oppurtunity for the local police to send them on to their diety (mostly on the two way range). I feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that there are still those out there who won't hesitate to drop the hammer.

All of his shootings were investigated and deemed justified, and he took this loony down without hurting the baby. Don't try to fix what isn't broken, IMO.

I agree. Seems like a lot of media-invented controversy over a job well done.

The article says his first shooting, he wounded the criminal. All the rest were fatal.

I agree with the media, there was a problem.

Glad to see the Officer fixed it.
