After being questioned by the Houston Chronicle, Schroeder confessed to a reporter Wednesday that he had lied. He had in fact served 10 years as a military policeman stationed in New York, Panama and Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, and left the Army as a sergeant in February 2001, before the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan even started.

I would like to think that most of us in the MP Corp had the sand to just be proud of the fact we served our country and gave what we had to offer.

Schroeder apologized and said he was resigning from the PTSD Foundation immediately.
He said he does have PTSD that predates his military service and worsened when he was stationed with the Army in Central and South America. He doesn't know why he misled people about his service record and medals.
"You can call it a desperate act of a desperate man just trying to get the help that he needed," he said. "It was a coping skill just as much as my alcoholism was. ... I'm trying to do the honorable thing now."
Someone should get that quote to the FIB and the VA.
Is this AH is getting VA comp for PTSD that pre-DATES his service??
VA requires proof he was in a combat situation. NY and TX dont count.

Yes, but if the condition pre-dates his initial service enlistment, I would think they will not give him disability for a pre-exsisting condition???.

Pre-existing conditions aggravated by service are still covered. In most cases, it's a factual determination whether the condition was pre-existing, and whether it was aggravated by service. But as a matter of law, they may be covered.
Ok lets see 10 years Army MP discharged 2001 which means somewhere in 1991 entered and after Basic and AIT would put around 1992. Operation Promote Liberty, initiated January 12, 1990, days after the launching of Operation Just Cause, was the execution of civil-military restoration of Panama. Operation Promote Liberty – operation to rebuild the Panamanian military and civilian infrastructure Their mission was to assist with the stability of the country pending the screening, training and fielding of the newly established "Policia Tecnica Judicial (PTJ)," and personnel of the old Panamanian Defense Forces newly formed FPP/PNP. The PNP became the uniformed police agency responsible for daily law enforcement functions such as maintenance of order, community patrol, movement of traffic, and initial response to crimes. Now just being stationed in Panama is not much cause for PTSD.
Truthfully his claim for PTSD is prob BS. He was a poser trying to use false valor to gain. He was just covering his ass for being stupid. An E5 with 10 years. Not climbing to high

A Houston-area Army veteran who claimed to be a combat-tested Special Forces soldier and Silver Star recipient has been charged with a federal crime for falsifying his military discharge papers.
A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted Paul A. Schroeder, 40, of The Woodlands, who is accused of unlawfully possessing and exhibiting a certificate of discharge from the military, "knowing the same to be forged, counterfeited, or falsely altered." The misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
