Alberto Contador handed two-year ban for doping offence

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/16905217

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport has banned Alberto Contador for two years for doping, according to the Spanish Cycling Federation.

He has been stripped of his 2010 Tour de France victory and, with his suspension running until 6 August this year, will miss the 2012 Tour................."

There are some who will say that's why he didn't win last year - but he made some rookie mistakes that cost him a number of seconds here and there.

And the only winners of the TdF the past 10 years who stood on the top step of the podium in Paris and were not stripped of the title were...........

I think there is a good chance this goes as far back as Pedro Delgado.

Despite his Vo2, Armstrong likely doped as well. I'd bet money he doped, but I still find it amazing that he was able to compete again after cancer.

There is some scary stuff being developed out there. (e.g. gene replacement and therapies) First hand, I've witnessed teenagers like myself magically becoming overnight phenoms etc etc Common denominator is wealthy parents that can pull strings. Believe it or not, but even at the regional level where I'm at, there is money involved. (everyone wants their kid to be the next Lance) Granted they test, but if you are going to dope, the time to do it is now so it can be masked by "growing up"

The conspiracy theorists say that LA was operating a clinic for that kind of research under the guise of cancer research. Very similar fields, and it's sad to say the good doctors don't always work on the side of the good guys.
