POOL REPORT

President Obama arrived in Phoenix at 3:15 pm local time, finding the chilly weather of Iowa giving way to sunny skies and temperatures in the high 60s.

He stepped off Air Force One at 3:28 pm and was greeted by Gov. Jan Brewer. She handed him a handwritten letter in an envelope and they spoke intensely for a few minutes. At one point, she pointed her finger at him.

Afterwards, your pooler spoke with the governor.

The REST of the story is a must read. Waiting to see if it bubbles up in MSM somewhere.

fox and Drudge . . . oh my.
I'll wait for a few locals to chime in about Gov. (but I'm glad to hear Arizona is right side up with Spring Training getting closer and closer and closer (but not close enough).

Now some might be hurt by what I'm about to post and I'm sorry you feel that way, but nothing seems more false and less genuine then, "I said I was 'sorry he felt that way but' . . . "

I tend to walk away too. If MRFL or BCMU says, "I'm sorry I hurt your feelings, but . . . "
Well!, that's different! Gimme a hug; how can we fix this?"

seriously, we have got to lose that phrase.

I'm glad Jan feels that way.

Funnier still if she would have started poking him in the chest.

His familiar expression and body language was that of a husband trying to dodge a spousal bullet, as it were. ;)

There was video but they just didn't happen to catch the finger pointing. Oh, they've got it (as you will see in the raw video, one camera was in the perfect spot) but they won't release it. Wonder why?

Could it be that they won't be able to attack Gov. Brewer and Arizona? Randon lefty:"Hell, I'm surprised she didn't pull a gun on him."

A little reminder...

Compliments of Merriam Webster...

Brian Williams Points Finger At Bush In 2006 Interview

Who remembers this?

"Last week it was all the outrage that Republican Arizona Governor Jan Brewer pointed her finger at President Obama. Some pundits, including Bill Maher, said this incident was unprecedented. It turns out, that is not true............"

He's President of the United States, not King of the United States. She is the governor of a state in that union. She is NOT an underling of the president.

I was a bit upset about her actions, due to the lack of video of the actual incident. However, when the contents of the letter she was delivering to President Obama was released, it revealed her "mindset" when she went there. It was somewhat of an "olive branch" - and, in the 4th Grade mentality that rules these days... "he started it"!

All I know about Brewer, and sorry Teddy, she is NOT a "young lady", is what I read in the paper. I do know that a former student of mine who is active in Republican politics thinks very highly of her. I think highly of him. 'Nuff said.

Here is a copy of the written letter Gov. Brewer hand delivered to President Obama. When I read it, I knew the attitude she took to the meeting. I tried to find a typed copy, but google-fu failed me.

I am enclosing the video of "Sunday Square Off" - a program on Arizona issues on Phoenix's Channel 12 (NBC). It is hosted by a Canadian I cannot stand! The guy in the middle is a political consultant - Republican - and former Congressional candidate (whose campaign I worked on), and a former student from my first years of teaching. I don't always agree with Stan, but usually appreciate the insight he brings to issues.

We have a FEDERAL system. Governors are not vassals of the President of the US, and if more acted as if they were not, we - as a nation - would be better off!

My wife browsing the online news and came across the CNN video of the broadcast of this event. They did not mention that the President walked away mid-sentence nor showed the video from the angle that actually showed the exchange once they got past the greeting.

Sad really...the state of journalism as a check on government...They have moved into the role of advocacy....Freedom of the press....only works if the press gives a shit.....

Well Jesse Jackson had to get his two cents in. What an oxygen wasting attention whore he is. It is people like him who help racism stay front and center.

Jackson to Brewer: ‘Keep your finger in your pocket’

BY JAMES SCALZITTI Staff Reporter/jscalzitti@suntimes.com January 28, 2012 12:06PM

The Rev. Jesse Jackson on Saturday called on people to flood the phone lines and fill the e-mail inboxes of Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s office after she pointed a finger at President Barack Obama during a heated exchange on a tarmac outside a Phoenix airport this week.

Calling Brewer’s gesture “the ultimate insult,” Jackson told the crowd at the Rainbow PUSH headquarters, as well as to those “all around the country, you call the governor’s office next week.”

He gave out an 800-number to Brewer’s office, and urged those who call to say, “We don’t need her finger.”

Jackson also called on Brewer to apologize for her finger pointing at the president, and to “put her hand in her pocket.”

He also suggested that other actions directed at the state of Arizona such as boycotts, could be part of the action, saying that “until she apologizes and puts her hand in her pocket . . . we do not need Arizona . . . until they learn how to respect somebody.”

“Even George Wallace never put his finger in Dr. King’s face,” Jackson said. “She should not get away with that. She knew the cameras were rolling. She knew what she was doing.”

Recalling that incident and reflecting on the Republican presidential campaign, Jackson said, “We’ve seen the right wing show its ugly face.”

He added, “It’s time to fight back, it’s time to stand up. Come November, we’ll point our finger [at the voting booths]. Point your finger, tell Ms. Brewer, ‘Keep your finger in your pocket.’ ”
