Hope this hasn't been posted before. I found this on another forum and am so surprised I'd pass it on!!

Know this VET? worth watching!!!!!

Many people may have forgot about his time in the U.S.Army.
He is the son of an Air Force General, and a accomplished Golden Gloves boxer, and he
graduated from Pomona College with a B.S. degree,
and then became a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University.
He joined the U.S. Army at the prompting of his father. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he attended and graduated from both Army Airborne and Ranger training in the very top of each class.
He was selected for U. S. Army Special Forces Training but refused so that he could attend pilot training where he earned his wings, and became an accomplished U.S.
Army helicopter (gun ship) pilot, and achieved the rank of Captain.
He was about to be promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed to teach at West Point when he resigned his commission from the Army to go into music and acting. You can tell in this video that his time in the military means
a lot to him.

with all the posers out there, it is easy to forget that you can't judge a book by its cover. We are all the sum total of our experiences. Good on Willie for laying it plain out.

Me and Kristoffer K. got in a bit of a bind in Tucson in the early '70s...Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!

Kris was filming "Alice Doesn’t Live Here Any More" in Tucson. One scene was shot in a restaurant near the TV station I worked at. That weekend we were scheduled to be the local affiliate hosting the Easter Seals Marathon.

The General Manager went to the set and asked if any of the talent would like to be on our feed. Only Kris agreed. Since it was a 24 hour marathon we directors had rotating 8 hour shifts. I just happened to be on when Kris arrived to perform. He had agreed to do an hour. Seven hours later he was still on the set. He would introduce a song by giving a bit of background as to how he came up with it.

The network would rotate through the affiliates and give 10 minutes for local “talent”. Since we had Kris, we got more hits and more time.

We started at 1800 local. By midnight everyone in the studio was relaxed and ignoring the national feed and even the cameras. Kris was just talking to us.

We were live nationwide, I don't remember the song he was introducing but he said, “ This motherf**cer came up to me...”. As late as it was, we all sprang to attention. The phone from the network went off way too fast! Kris came into the control booth and apologized big time, but live TV is live TV.

We got hit hard by the FCC the next day, but I don't know what, if any, penalties were paid.

All-in-all...it was a great day! :D

I had no idea Willie Nelson was prior Air Force, and I'm a huge Willie Nelson fan. Stellar introduction for Kris, who I also had no idea served in the military. Thanks for the link.

And PSM, that is a fantastic story.
