From the story, it appears the fun doesn't start until next month, but I would be glad to take possession of one for them! :D

When I click on it it's a link to a website. Anyone else having the same problem?

EDIT: JJ I think I misunderstood your post. From what I understand they will post more info later and open it up to purchase the tickets.

I was about to ask the same question. I don't see any info on how to purchase a weapon and or raffle tickets. If they price it reasonably, I'll probably just buy one instead of the raffle ticket route.

So the article says about "half" what a M24 system would normally cost. Google is showing me some varying answers as to what retail or MSRP might typically be. Can anyone chime in on what they would expect the half mark to be around?

My guess from Google-ing is something like 4k?

The original M24 cost over 5000.00.

If I read the link correctly,,

Remington plans to replace the receiver and barrel.

Is this re-born rifle a M24

Or a hi-price spread wannabe???

I'm betting it's going to be a 308. Just a guess though.

According to the web site, it will be a reborn M24 with new receiver and barrel. I am assuming the trigger will be the M24 trigger as the new 2010 has a new trigger job.

Might have to keep an eye on this myself. And yes, I hope it stays a .308. I don't need the pain and expense of shooting a 300WM for nostalgia/fun. (Wonder how much more difficult/expensive it's going to be to train snipers when 300WMs are the only PSRs in the inventory? :munchin [Stupid Bastards!])

Anyone figure out how to get on the list yet? The flier doesn't really help at all.

Thanks..........

The 7.62 will continue to be used as the introductory weapon system. Hopefully they will get a better weapon than the M110 in its present form. SFSC will probably lose their M24s in the next few classes and use M110s in lieu of. This will mean a slight change in doing business as the student will not use a weapon system that can match the current requirements.

The 300 use will continue at its current usage, for now. :munchin

The original M24 cost over 5000.00.

That's a bit better than I was thinking then. I was seeing it for sale on some sites for something like $8,000. I suppose that prior to this offering any that have made it to the civilian market in any way have been priced at a premium. For $2500 or so, I will definitely put my name on the list. I'm at least second priority. :p

Judging from the downloadable info sheet on the site, it looks those of us in uniform but without a sniper certificate will have about 6 months to save while we wait for all you long range types to get yours.

Been about 3 weeks since any action in here. Any of you Sniper qual'ed folks gotten any communication or made a purchase yet? Just wondering if they have opened up round one already.
