Do you recall why the "3" was used as a suffix?.........
For those who were "3" qualified........ The "3" meant you were qualified as a Sky Diver,Scuba Diver and a Muff Diver.....:p
Only oldtimers would remember that joke, any of you recall it?

That was "occifer" stuff! I was just "S" - which I assumed stood for "Stud"! :D
Not related at all, but I once heard that only EM, NCO's and company grade officers could be called a "Wind Dummy" - field grade officers were to be called "Turbulence Testers"! OF course, general officers had to be referred to as "Meteorological Phenomenon Investigators"...:D

We called "3" qualified "AMF's"... Like in a bowling ball... They were very valuable assets...
I recall certain persons being presented with a Gp coin once they were "3" qualified.

I wish we had been given coins. Got my Beret, my group (had to buy my own flash) and a report date to 7th Group. Slam, Bam, Thank you Maam. God love the woman who used to run the laundry trailer next to the TRG GP mess hall, she helped me meet a lot of deadlines with sewing on flashes, stripes, etc. But I still have my coin and my original Beret. Going to have them buried with me.
