lol The whole world's gotta be laughing at this guy.

President Barack Obama admitted in an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters, screened on Friday night, that his worst character fault is "laziness" and he is really a big "softie" and not at all "Spock-like."

Asked by Walters to name "the trait you most deplore in yourself," the president -- who was interviewed alongside his wife Michelle -- responded, "laziness."

"You're lazy?" Walters asked.

"You know it's interesting, there is a deep down, underneath all the work I do, I think there's a laziness in me.

"It's probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii and it's sunny outside, and sitting on the beach," Obama said with a smile.

Obama drew on the image of the highly logical, largely insensitive Mr. Spock character on the science fiction TV show "Star Trek" when asked what the biggest misconception about him was.

"Me being detached, or Spock-like, or very analytical," said Obama. "People who know me know that I am a softie. I mean, stuff can choke me up very easily."

"The challenge for me is that in this job I think a lot of times the press or how you come off on TV people want you to be very demonstrative in your emotions," he added. "And if you're not sort of showing it in a very theatrical way, then somehow it doesn't translate over the screen."

Asked to name the trait he most dislikes in others, Obama said, "The thing actually that I most dislike is cruelty. I can't stand cruel people."

Michelle added that the thing that bothered her most was when "people aren't willing to compromise."

"I just think that particularly in a society with big views, big differences, that, you know, the truth is often somewhere right in the middle. And, a lot of times, we don't want to give up anything. And I don't like it when I see that in myself," the first lady added.

At another point in the interview, the first lady said that if she died, she would like to be reincarnated as Bo, her Portuguese water dog. "He's got a great life," she said. "He's got it good."

Quizzed on the occasions in which he might lie, Obama said, "Usually, the only time I lie is very personal interactions with family members, who you say, 'You look great,' and they don't. 'Wonderful dress...' Uh, not so much."

"Things where the truth would hurt other people," his wife added.

"Right, the things where truth would hurt other people," the president continued. "Not too many big things. I said during the campaign that I'll always tell you what I think, and I will, always tell you where I stand. I'm not perfect, but you'll know what I believe."

Describing his wife as "beautiful, smart and funny," Obama said he couldn't come up with a pet peeve about her, while Michelle said her peeve list about her husband was "too long."

Obama said his one regret in life was not having learned a musical instrument.

"And I regret not having focused more on Spanish when I was studying it in school. I would love to be able to speak Spanish fluently and play an instrument," he said.

Typical sensationalistic "grabber" headline which inaccurately reflects the context of the posted report to draw in readers.

I can only imagine that if such 'news' organizations had been around some several millenia ago, we may have read something like this in our morning editions of the ol' Jerusalem Star Tribune:

Infant Discovered In Barn; Child Protective Services Launch Probe; Nazareth Carpenter Being Held On Charges Involving Underage Mother

Authorities were today alerted by a concerned citizen who noticed a family living in a barn.

Upon arrival, Family Protective Service personnel, accompanied by police, took into protective care an infant child who had been wrapped in strips of cloth and placed in a feeding trough by his 14-year old mother, a recent arrival from Nazareth. The name of the child and mother are being withheld in accordance with the policies of this paper to not print the names of minors.

During the confrontation, a man identified as Joseph, also of Nazareth, attempted to stop the social workers. Joseph, aided by several local shepherds and some unidentified foreigners, tried to forestall efforts to take the child, but was restrained by the police.

The three foreigners, who allege to be wise men from an Eastern country, are also being held for questioning. The INS and Homeland Security officials are seeking information about these men who may be in the country illegally. A source with the INS states that they had no passports, but were in possession of gold and some chemical substances which are possibly illegal. They resisted arrest saying that they had been warned by God to avoid officials in Jerusalem and to return quickly to their own country.

The chemical substances in their possession will be tested.

The owner of the barn is also being held for questioning.

The manager of the Bethlehem Inn faces possible revocation of his license for violating health and safety regulations by allowing people to stay in the stable. Civil authorities are also investigating the zoning violations involved in maintaining live-stock in a commercially-zoned district.

The location of the minor child will not be released, and the prospect for a quick resolution to this case is doubtful. Asked about when the child would be returned to his mother, a Child Protective Service spokesperson said, "The father is middle-aged and the mother definitely underage. We are checking with officials in Nazareth to determine what their legal relationship is. Joseph has admitted taking Mary from her home in Nazareth because of a census requirement. However, because she was obviously pregnant when they left, investigators are looking into other reasons for their departure.

Joseph is being held without bond on charges of possible molestation, kidnapping, child endangerment, and statutory rape. The child's mother was taken to the Bethlehem General Hospital where she is being examined by doctors.

Charges may also be filed against her for endangerment.

She will also undergo psychiatric evaluation because of her claim that she is a virgin and that the child is from God.

The director of the psychiatric wing said, "I don't profess to have the right to tell people what to believe, but when their beliefs adversely affect the safety and well-being of others -- in this case her child -- we must consider her a danger to others."

"The unidentified drugs at the scene didn't help her case, but I'm confident that with the proper therapy regimen we can get her back on her feet."

A spokesperson for the governor's office said, "Who knows what was going through their heads? But regardless, their treatment of the child was inexcusable, and the involvement of these others frightening. There is much we don't know about this case, but for the sake of the child and the public, you can be assured that we will pursue this matter to the end."

And so it goes...

The guy uses "lazy" and "soft" to describe himself. His wife says, verbatim, that she'd like to come back as their dog, because "he's got it good."

What's misleading about the headline?

Another question; how can anyone, who's not a died-in-the-wool liberal democrat, in clear conscience, defend Obama-much less compare this story to one of Christ?

Michelle added that the thing that bothered her most was when "people aren't willing to compromise.

That's a loaded statement. What people?

Wish the president was even lazier.

Dumb, lazy people do less damage, and under some circumstances can be productive/useful.
Dumb, hard-working people are the ones that do the real damage.

People who are clever and lazy make the best leaders.
Not convinced that the president is very clever.

If you watched the full interview, you'd know how "lightly" eidted that piece is and see how the headline belies the full context of the responses when the POTUS and FLOTUS answered Barbara Walters' questions.

And in the interview, the FLOTUS' answer specifically states she would not want to be a "dog" but makes reference to having such a relatively worry-free life, a proverbial "dog's life" as it were, while the POTUS begged out of answering the question.

My 'beef' with that piece is less with its 'editing' (which is to be expected) than with its 'yellow journalism' approach to using such 'grabber' descriptive adjectives to gain the reader's attention and influence their reading of the article beforehand - which is the statement I was making in parodying a "What if..." similar approach to one well-known story.

IMO, whoever writes such headlines for whichever news organization learned their trade well as interns in the Minitrue and only supports BHOs cause during what may turn out to be a critical point in our nation's political History.

However, YMMV - and so it goes...

Worst, most softball interview ever, and the most trite answers I have ever encountered.

Nothing like the grillings they gave Bush.
