Don't forget, gas was under $2.00 a gallon when Obama took office. If he really wants to get things moving in the economy, he should be doing things to reuce fuel costs.
Let me know when gas gets back down under $1.00 a gallon, then I will be impressed...

Cheap gas does not play well with the "Green Energy" message.

Around here, anytime the price of gas drops below $3.00 per gal the proverbial spigot opens, phones ring and business picks up. When the price is $3.00 or more the spigot gets shutoff.

Same goes for the fraud laced, Government manipulated and manic 3 card Monti game....the DJIA. The DOW goes up and there is a manic, euphoric atmosphere that the spigot has been turn WFO, the Disco lights come on, Cramer beats the Drum and people buy, buy, buy.....then within the next week we find that 'The Numbers' weren't exactly right, things aren't nearly as cheery as we thought.....well actually we lied about the numbers and it is like a bad, bad hangover the morning after a night out with the boys..

'IF' there was an true interest He/They could stop the games and they make it happen....but they don't and it won't. Nothing is going to change until there is nothing to change......O and many other Politicians want more of us collecting Welfare and other Government entitlements.

Because people who have no hopes are easy to control.

Cheap gas does not play well with the "Green Energy" message.Gas Buddy likes to connect the dots; got a lottery ticket?

While a kid in So Cal 'green' was just a color but I was riding a very economical Bultaco Matador. I remember the Gulf station I worked at, with 3 grades of fuel. During one summer gas war they were 9, 10, and 11 cents/gal respectively, 19 was the norm. But then everyone's got "cheaper gas" tales.

Sure wish I still had that Matador, though...

I used to drive up to Cheyenne from Ft Collins,CO back in the 90's to fill up my diesel truck for $.85/gal. Luckily I drove that old Chevy into the ground before congress figured a gallon of diesel should cost you your first born, or else I would have had to trade it in.

Teddy- Yup. I remember. We had Terrrible Herbst gas stations here in So Cal that would start gas wars. The cheapest I ever saw was 15.9 cents/gallon...

Nope .... ;)

Not with the way TAXES are imposed on a single gallon of gasoline now-a-days .... :(

Pick out your favorite state and see where you "add" up with the rest of the country ......

Edit to add .....

Check out the "Tax Map" on the above site. ..... http://www.californiagasprices.com/USA_Tax_Map.aspx

You can really see just how much EXTRA we are paying at the pumps.

Adjusted for inflation that would be $1.61 today. Considering all of the political and environmental BS over the years, double the price ain't that bad. Plus, how many gallons to the mile were you getting back then? :D

That doesn't sound that bad for back then. My '67 Mustang didn't do that well. Then again, it could be the lead accelerator it came equipped with.

I also remember "dragging Main" and having the guys pony up money for gas. I'd tell the attendant, "Two dollars worth of ethyl, please." :D

BTW, for the youngsters, for that 19 cents ($1.61, adjusted), the gas was pumped for us, the oil level and tire pressures checked, and, at least at Phillips 66, the interior of the car vacuumed. :D Oh, and windows washed.

No!!

Lowest I have ever seen was in Indiana in 1960. A small local price war was going on, and we filled up for $.11/gal.

This is just going to speed along the transition to natural gas.

It's about frackin' time we start using our own fracking energy which is fracking abundant.

Nope .... ;)

Not with the way TAXES are imposed on a single gallon of gasoline now-a-days .... :(My burg is 3 to 5 cents higher on all fuel, all city tax from a burg of <10,000. Also, there is from previous administrations here, the state price-fixing, er, uh, excuse me, the Minimum Markup Law, a measure passed in "fairness" to mom & pop small stations who don't also sell the inventory of 40-60% markup goods from inside the store, like a Kwik-Trip or SuperAmerica.

From a price-change, all must be same-same within 24 hours and can't change again for another day or so. (Tanker that dropped the gas into the ground is the same.)

Sounds like something "Wesley Mouch" would think of...

State and Fed taxes in NC are .5605 gas and .6225 diesel. Add another 10 cent credit card fee per gallon and you'll get 65 cents of every gallon going to the government and credit card companies. It's way more than any retailer makes selling fuel. So do you really think they want you to use less gas? It's just another one of their dirty secrets they care not to talk about.
