Nice - not in the retirement - but nice in seeing someone I've worked with do so well with long service.

Retirement is another chapter in one's life. He will do well.

I worked with him when he was the Senior SOCCE O/C at JRTC. He took over from Major Sayre (RIP). It was at the time the first SOCCE manuals were being written.

A lot of good B Teams rotated through at the time showing how SF could help the conventional force. Some TF commanders didn't want to listen - and it showed in their AARs.

As with everyone - your views on him will be based on your interactions with him at a given point and time in his career. Mine were good.

I only met/worked with him when he was an observer/controler LTC at NTC when we were a socce to a leg division HQ. He was really sharp, tech sound and smoked the div 3 for all of his lapses in responding to our input.
I liked him off the bat.
Good man, wish him all of the best in his transition.

Mine were very good. First experience was when one of his companies from 5th was asigned as SOCCE when I was the 18th Abn SOCORD SGM....he was everything I would look for in a BN CDR....

All the best to him.........."Frido the Bandito"......well liked and respected throughout the ranks. SF will miss what he brought to the table.

I was in 1/1 when he took over OEF-P. He was squared away down south and had alot of common sense. Briefed him on some stuff when he was SOCPAC Cdr and he consistantly had good questions, answers, and solutions. Too bad there aren't more like him.

I think that his closing statement at his retirement ceremony exemplifies the spirit of every true SF Warrior, both past and present:

“We are absolutely at our best when we understand and get the vision of the mission and are not interested in who gets the credit.” - Lt. General David P. "Frido" Fridovich
