Excerpts:
The lengthy verbal duel, with time for fully-developed answers not 30-second sound bites, was designed to circumvent the media's usual entertainment format, designed to produce TV news, gotchas and show off network stars as interrogators. The topics are current economic and social issues and the timekeeper is Rep. Steve King of Iowa.
We wondered out loud if in 2011 sitcommed Americans would sit still for 90 minutes of political discussion by two of the party's better speakers uninterrupted by "these important messages"?
The C-SPAN network has just informed us here at Investor's Business Daily that it will, indeed, broadcast the entire Cain-Gingrich Lincoln-Douglas debate nationally Saturday evening on its main channel, plus C-SPAN Radio and live-stream it at c-span.org. Starting time is 5 p.m. Pacific, 8 p.m. Eastern.

Like Paul Ryan on fiscal matters, Herman Cain is now scaring the bejeesus out of the folks living in the District of Red Square, ergo, he's a target.
I love it.

Newt vs Herman. I like them both. I like Cain's down to earth, say it like it is attitude. I think Newt has the intellect and experience advantage. Newt is a devastating debator. I think, unfortunately that he carries some baggage and has burned a few too many bridges...
My idea of a perfect conservative candidate would have Romney's demeanor and looks, Newt's intellect and Herman's plain speaking...

Wholeheartedly concur.
The winner of this debate will be.... the Dems.
Newt is smart as hell, a good debater and 100% unelectable as POTUS. The mainstream media will key in on any perceived shortcoming by Cain and hammer that to death.
Maybe the moderator can even slip in a question or two about the recent accusations about Cain. Love how many go after him and/or his campaign on the handling of the whole affair, when if there is a settlement w/ confidentiality agreement, in many cases that prohibits a party from even acknowledging that there is an agreement!

Agreed.
IMO, Newt can best help the country as a commentator who helps Americans focus on the issues rather than the gossip that often turns election cycles into soap operas.

I just got the sound bites on the news this morning. The exchanges were honest, open, and they did not attack each other. Not what one would expect from a debate. I wish the GOP would not tear each other apart. They need more debates like this one. Newt supposedly came across as a polished politician, and Cain as less a politician, and more of a businessman with ideas. Awesome exchange at the end when Cain asked in a tongue in cheek manner Newt what Newt would do as the Vice Presidential candidate.
