That's a green tinted pink beret if you ask me - must've come outa that new magazine for the DADTers.
We used to drink what we called a Green Beret - take a large water glass and tell the bartender to fill it with one shot of everything behind the bar until the glass was full - we'd chug it...and then we'd start drinking.
Made for some memorable...sometimes...stories.
And so it goes...

I had the honor of being "Hammered In" by the Nails at NKP. Nail was the call sign of the OV-10 FAC pilots. I was given a drink called "The Hammer". It was 12 oz of 100 proof vodka with enough Creme de Menthe in it to make your puke green when you vomited....
Why would anyone ruin perfectly good vodka with peppermint schnapps?
I think I will stick with Long Island Iced Teas.

I'm with Tess,, These days, our Party mix is LIIT's, or one of several "Tropical" concoctions for special occasions.
But my go-to, on the road is Vodka on the rocks,, no caffeine or sugar or red dye #3,, better for the heart... and IF I want to be good,, I alternately SHOOT glasses of H2O..

The green Creme de Menthe was for visual effect of the following projectile vomit...
I'll tell you how my wife used to mix "Green Berets" for myself and my buddy "G-Chief" when he came over on the weekends.
She'd pop open a box of Honduran cigars, and he and I would each light one, standing around in the kitchen, leaning up against the counter. Then, she'd twist the caps off two each fifths of Jim Beam and hand us each one. Then she'd start the charcoal and get out of Dodge 'til about noon the next day. :D

Jagermeister fan too but only a few shots and they must be cold.
Some of the other posters here are bringing back fond memories of copious amounts of alcohol drank in younger and wilder times. The older I've gotten the more the hangovers hurt, sorry, just can't do it anymore.

That is until my team leader found out and made me share!!! I hated having to share an Ecotat with the team leader! :mad::D
A SGM once taught me a different trick when I was in 7th SFG. Before going into the jungle soak some chewing tobacco plugs in some Antiguan spiced rum. Nicotine and alcohol hits at the same time, nothing better when humping through the jungle. :D

When I was in 10th SFG and out on winter warfare I would always bring a little Jaeger with me. I kept it in a goat skin in my ruck and it was real cold. I would take a snort in the morning and in the evening purely for its medicinal properties.
You need to go back and kick whoever your medics were then collective @$$es - they should've gotten y'all those individual bottles of cognac through the Class Vlll system for cold weather medicinal purposes - 3 per man per day ration - not great cognac, but they're nice to have to add to the coffee and the morale.

I had heard that officers during WWII recieved alcohol rations, but I never knew it was a possibility during my time. Though that might explain why the medic was always a little loopy during winter warfare. Bastard!

While at Camp Plei Mrong in 1964, I was one of the medics and we had cases of Pharmco Grain Alcohol (190 proof)offically intended for use in sterlizing surgical instruments, However, it was diluted with water 1 to 1 most of the time there was less water used with pint cans of Pharmco and mixed with Jello, best flavor IMHO was grape, other flavors were ok orange, lime, cherry. The less the Pharmco was diluted it seemed the quicker the mixture gelled so you had to drink it fast before it gelled. The hangover required 2/500mg of Darvon to get rid of the headache, and you were thirsty for 3 days. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME? Regard's, Tom Kelly.

Since the Japanese are not authorized to have a standing Army, WWII surrender agreement. They do have a Japanese Airbase ground force, and in Japan, they are great skiers.
Learned also, they have a rather large Vodka to water ratio, seems also, that it helps in preventing their canteens from freezing solid.
Not much in tactical training, but we did drink alot. We also took several foot lockers full of Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker, (in all colors), Jameson, John Powers, Bushmills, Dewars and few other not so infamous names.
We would burry the bottles in the snow under bamboo floor mates, covered then with rugs. I thought CSMs were smart in conducting inspections, I mean, they were just SGMs and Team Sgts not that long ago.:p

Having a canteen full of Schwabenbrau or Hofbrau while on guard duty was popular in Germany. The small half pints of schnapps were nice too because they fit perfectly in the upper pockets of a field jacket.
That's quite a collection of booze you took with you. While on deployment to northwest Africa onetime an Air Force communications support unit brang an equipment box full of bourbon and the personnel were few in number. We gladly hepled them drink it.
