This is a welcome feature for sure. Click Me (http://www.aclu.org/blog/technology-and-liberty/aclu-guide-new-facebook-privacy-controls)

The article says you can turn it on now but it's not there yet. :(

It does not matter. The information you have on there is on physical servers....and belongs to the highest bidder.

Speaking of what people do on line, I came across the attached link:

http://blog.compete.com/2007/01/25/top-20-websites-ranked-by-time-spent/

I like how adultfriendfinder, mapquest and walmart are closely related, too funny!

It's a few years old, wonder how the stats have changed?

Question for all - what do you do when online, and not at PS.com?

They are using mapquest to find the nearest walmart where they decided to meet their adult friend....what's there not to understand.. :)

Good concept, just a little late. Now where do I start...actually let's not start at all, more to the point, the Internet and privacy are a nice little oxymoron, only made bigger by social networking. On that note: My neighbor used to lie to me about his age(younger than he actually is) and I showed him that the truth was two Google hits away, thanks to Facebook; no elite hacking or DMV databases necessary. If you post it, I can read it, and so can many others...

Read the news, check email, play catch up on threads that have multiple sources....go back to PS to see if there's been an update to my current favorite thread.

Mostly though it's at work...or on the Android while waiting somewhere. I'm rarely online at home.

It amazes me how much FB skirts around the privacy laws. Hell you cant cancel your account. They hold your info. Even makes what little conspiracy blood I have in me begin to rise.

When you are really sitting around with nothing to do log on to FB and watch all the advertisements on the right sidebar. You may be a little suprised to see either you are someone you know in an ad. I have seen my kids there on numerous ocassions. Privacy means nothing to them.

Believe it or not that was pointed out to me by some Russian kid from Vladivostok who said that US Armor "was moron" :)

I wish you were sitting next to a friend of mine when I named that site. He kept telling me it sounds weird. I just looked at him like an idiot and registered it...man, hind site.... :D

PS.com is one of the best (if not the best) information clearinghouses on the net.
This appears to be a reflection of the character of QPs.

Information is brought in from a very wide net, scrutinized with reasonable skepticism, and discussion is wisely regulated with a careful balance between freedom of ideas and discipline of discourse.
The laconism exhibited by QPs creates a local "net culture" which results in efficiency and (relative) civility.

Don't need too many other sources.
Most of the rest of my time is spent on a handful of other efficient aggregators which match my particular interests or is spent mining along certain lines of interest.

Time is valuable.
The internet can become a severe time thief if you're not careful.

Don't have internet or cable tv at home.
The kids are rationed time on a weekly basis at the local internet cafe.

In all things moderation.

GC - I remember reading once about an author/educator who suggested "breakout groups". Later to only learn that, (he/she), used the time to catch up on required administrative paper work.

Plato and Socrates, used a technique called "Sit down, shut up and listen." After several hours of lecturing, they gave a quiz with all the material previously mentioned as testable.

Aside from reading from many here at PS.com, who fanatically know way to much, I probably have the largerst and most extensive library of useless information then anyone else I know.

I'm no Cliff Clavin from "Cheers", but I do enojy the quips and quotes of many here.

With the former, you have an average intelligence of the group. With the latter, you get Dusty and TR. Team Sergeant of late, seems to enjoy reading Penn's recipes and has also just started opening up in the 12 Step group.

First check of the day...and then frequently thereafter is here.

After that another site across the street (the other guys following the Oh thing), and then Drudge.

After that I check on Face book...I dont hardly post much, but on occasion respond to comments.

It's a pretty regular routine.

WD Sir,

PS.com is the only site I have been attached to since it's inception!;) After straying once, a very wise man told me to keep better company, so this is the only spot I go.....:)

Facebook, myspace, twit-ter or whatever that is has no time slot in my daily schedule...besides, all the really, really cool people, are here!:p

FB is great for family ill admit. No need to email photos or videos anymore. My family has a private page. Of course it's only closed to non family members. FB can see it anytime.

I don't really understand why privacy seems to be such a problem with FB. First, one can configure exactly who sees every element - information, posts, what have you. While it's true that if one "friends" everyone, that information could leak - I cannot imagine putting anything private on the internet.

And, too - there's no need to put information on FB. Or it can be distorted. Unless one supposes that my dad cat (long may she purr!) is working my keyboard.... :D

I like PS.com, but other than this site I go to:

wsj.com
stockcharts.com
google news

On Facebook, I make a few posts. They tend to be boring and gloomy, and deal with some of the more obscure elements of the economy and the markets. Boring is good!

My #1 FB use,, Inlaws & Outlaws. Share quips, pics, local news. I set up one page for a fishing group I'm part of, and I follow several other groups, all to stay in contact with friends. With our daughter in London and various I&O around the globe, FB allows a cheep, quick, focused venue.

FB security?? there is none,, I tell I&O that anything they say or do is published to the world and every site that FB sells your info to..

It does encourage a little paranoia, but that is the new world paradigm.. You need to lean to live with it..

Because you can read & see without interaction, you may feel there is a certain "voyeur" air about FB. It's a little creepy. But I look at it the same as I would going to a friends party. You listen to a conversation between friends, you may join or elect to move to the next conversation,, or you may want to zero in on that new little blonde that arrived with your buddies-GF's-sister's-cousin's-brain-surgeon-X?? :D

As to where I surf??

#1 a bunch of news sites
#2 PS.com
I consider 1&2 interchangeable, depending on my email..

#3 Others,, I drop in on weapons, geeky PC, motorcycle, weather, ebay, financial, political sites. Not in any order or frequency..

#4 shopping - ebay, gunbroker, amazon, new-egg, ect... We are a little to rural when it comes to any retail stores. So the internet has become our #1 shopping site. With do care, you can buy just about anything.

The internet is my "Library of Alexandria" the wealth of information is staggering, star charts, timetables for the international space station orbits, how to fix my 1958 Farmall, all kinds of stuff.
Facebook is GREAT for staying in touch with family and friends.
I like reading about History, Science and Technology and it's all here.
Wikipedia alone is a great resource.

But like Mark Twain said " beware of reading medical books, you might die of a misprint."

I agree with the comments regarding this site, well done.
