Pulled up the K.C. PD Chief's Blog and I would have to say "Yes" they are offering a bounty on tips to illegal firearms...

Link here (http://kcpdchief.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html)

Beginning July 1, an innovative new program will pay a large amount of cash to tipsters who can help area police get illegal guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals.

(PS...Nice touch with the Avatar...That's Heat Miser isn't it?)

A logical form of gun control that actually may positively effect the crime rate. Unfortunately, the freakin' libs won't notice, because they're only interested in getting rid of legal guns.

Also, they won't notice because it involves logic.(Started to put this last sentence in pink, but it's pretty much true.)

A logical form of gun control that actually may positively effect the crime rate. But hardly innovative (well, maybe for Kansas City). This fosters warlord against warlord; I can score and jam you up. That works until you go somewhere else - like to the ATF, couldn't resist - and get some more gear and take me & mine out in a revenge mission.

Anyone up for re-election in KC?

RET10 mentioned KCMO and it may be happening there but these signs were in Kansas City, Kansas......which some consider as having similar problems as KCMO. Some of the community organizers in both areas think 'Guns' are the problem, not the people pulling the trigger of said guns.

Aside from that I do not know who sponsored the signage, but my daughter is supposed to email me a photo of one.

This might be similar or related to the ATF Project Ceasefire and NY's Operation Gun Stop

I was under the impression, perhaps mistakenly, that those found with illegal weapons would be jailed for an appropriate amount of time.

Instead of spending money on this program, maybe the folks of KC would be better serverd by using the money to hire a few more LEO's.

I saw one of the signs on southbound 71 just north of the 71/150 intersection

What if I were to put up a sign offering a reward for information on illegal immigrants - what would happen?

The LaRaza, ADL and ACLU would be raising hell on Prime Time, and the DoJ or DHS might decide your a domestic terrorist.
