I guess I'm getting older than I thought - IMO it was more fun to create our own 'short-timer calendar' by doing things like unrolling a roll of toilet paper, write the numbers 365 to 1 on single squares in sequentially descending order, reroll the roll, place it on a hanger next to your weapon(s) and LBJ (Load Bearing Junk) on the wall of your hooch or locker, and tear off one square for each day remaining and wipe yourself with it until it was gone and time to PCS...or modifying a Playmate of the Month centerfold so the last day 'in-country' was annotated at 'home plate'...or...
And so it goes...
