I really don't don't understand how they came up with all of the bottles unless NY has no recycling law or else no enforcement. The problem we have is somewhat the opposite. My neighborhood has more for the recycle bins than the garbage bins and yet the recycle bins are only a third the size of the garbage bins. This causes the trash collection workers to do a lot of manual transfer of materiel into the main truck. With the budget in the sewer DC cannot afford to switch to larger recycle bins.
One of he sad facts about going elk hunting up into the Manti mountains is that the roads there are trashier than almost any street in DC.
My favorite jogging t shirt is made from recycled plastic. It wicks really well and is very soft.

Not a new concept. There's a bottle house in Goldfield, Nevada that was built in the 1890's.
