"................The wildlife enthusiasts were camping on the Von Postbreen glacier in the remote region which is inaccessible by roads and heavily populated with the killer bears.

Tragically, just days before the attack on the group posted on July 27 a message on their blog in which they were delighted at having seen a polar bear in the region.

'I think we must of all dreamt of polar bears because the next day was eagerly waiting for the ice flows to break up so we could move onto base camp,' a group member wrote.

'There was a polar bear sighting across the fjord about a mile away... everyone was in good spirits because we encountered another polar bear floating on the ice............................"

I guess they never heard of "Grizzly Man"; or the fact that a polar bear is the top of the food chain in his environment.

Those kids that were attacked in ALaska last month were also unarmed.

No Alaska resident would go out in the bush without being heeled.

Darwin said something about all of this and when I remember it I will post it. It seemed to have something to do with needing a 460 S&W with hard casts if you did not have long claws and sharp teeth. :D

It must be Climate Change that caused this. All the ice has melted, depriving the bear of his natural food source, causing the bear to leave its normal hunting grounds looking for a meal. Or else it was the bacon they cooked for dinner that night.
