Independence Day, Dove Creek, CO (http://lazybobranch.homestead.com/July4-2011.html)

The town and VFW post honored the 4 remaining WWII vets in the county. They were the parade Grand Marshals and received a plaque in gratitude of their service.
I was so impressed I actually joined the VFW! Go figure.

Went out to see the Ft Bragg fireworks.

Could hear the music floating up from the Main Post Parade Field and had a great view of the fireworks from where we parked.

MPs did a great job with traffic control and we flowed smoothly and quickly of Post.

Alas I didn't get a shot of the hot girl in short shorts driving a Farmall.
She got my vote.

No local ties to Gen Moore. There are several panels with quotes on the memorial including George Patton.

I believe the last ho in Dove Creek was run off about 1925.
It ain't Ft. Collins. ;)

And they've probably never had a drug related murder, either...

Amazingly, that's not the same girl. The one in the parade this year is attending the Colorado School of Mines in the fall.(and no doubt leaving many broken hearts behind);)

More female students getting there all the time.

There were a total of 6 female students when my father was there (early 60s).
Maybe 15% when my sister was there (mid 80s).
Around 20% when I was there (early 90s).

Pushing 30% now.
The nerds will be truly blessed by her presence.
