SSG (then SGT) Mark H. Eaton was reported as an 11B4S on RT North Carolina, Task Force 1 Advisory Element (formerly CCN), Danang, when he was KIA approximately 7km WSW of Ta Ko on 13 Aug 1971 but was apparently assigned to the PSYWAR section and posthumously promoted to SSG.

MDOT To Dedicate Road To Soldier

A section of Mississippi Highway 531 in Smith County will dedicated to an Army Green Beret killed in Vietnam in 1971.
The dedication of the "Staff Sergeant Mark Haskin Eaton Memorial Highway" is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the Taylorsville Depot. Signs will be placed along the route on Highway 531 beginning at its intersection with Mississippi Highway 28 and extending to the Smith/Jasper County line.
Among speakers will be state Sen. Haskins Montgomery, D-Bay Springs; Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown; other local officials and family members.
Eaton began his career in the U.S. Army in 1967. He was a member of the Special Forces and went to Vietnam. He was killed on Aug. 13, 1971, in Vietnam while assigned to Special Operations.
