Seems to me that the addition of SFC Gittens to that neighborhood would actually improve their worth as human beings. Sounds like they need that much more than their precious property values.

Very disappointing...let's see, he will probably have the only house in the neighborhood that will be paid for in full and will never foreclose, despite the economy or mortgage crisis.
Damn, SFC Gittins ought to charge the residents in that neighborhood added property tax payable directly to him for his sacrific as a Soldier and Wounded Warrior, protecting the rights of that neighborhood to even have an HOA.

This man paid the price for our freedom, he has earned his share of the American dream.

"Greetings Neighbor.
Knob Hill Subdivision is a quiet community with walking trails, a championship swim team (the Barracudas!), playgrounds for the kids and wonderful families. We welcome you to be a part of our neighborhood and encourage you to get to know those living around you.
We hope our web site will answer most questions, however, if you need further information please contact me, one of the members of our Board of Directors or one of our committees.
We welcome you and are glad you are taking part in our community."

I just sent a little note over to Mr. Trump::mad:
Dear Mr. Trump,
Your property looks beautiful, and I just had one question for you? Do you think you would have the right to own that land, and live on that land freely, if Brave Men & Women had not fought and died to protect it?
You and your Board of Directors should be ashamed of yourselves! Yes sir, I said ashamed! Tell you what, how about taking a plane ride over to the middle east, jump on out, and see how far you can get with your pants on before you are nabbed, and labeled an infidel ! Then maybe you will "Get it!"
Our Veterans deserve the highest respect from us civilians, and you sir are a disgrace to the name, American!
Have a very nice Day!

What the HELL !?!?!?!?! That is one of the more shallow, heartless decisions I've ever heard.
I hope when it comes back around, that it hurts like eight biches on a bich boat!
thanks for posting this Richard.
Well, everyone, send the asshole an email...
Dear Mr.Trump,
I am so sorry that your beautiful villiage will be reduced in value by a crippled veterans home. As you 'show him the door' please take a moment to look into his eyes and explain the economic burden that his staying would cost you and the other homeowners.
I'm sure your fiscal explanation will resonate with him as it does with me.

So reversals like these don't happen unless lots of residents of Knob Hill voiced their opinions against the potential home so I don't think that Mr.Trump there was the sole person responsible. I have this feeling that most of the residents there have high paying jobs (accountants, lawyers, doctors etc ) and don't want any individuals who are not up to their financial standards of income. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to convince people to change their minds when it comes to money and I doubt that sending messages telling that their views would change when they are in Iraq or Afghanistan because these people ( I assume ) come from non military backgrounds so the previous comparison is not going to make them understand or really care. What can work is constant media exposure from different venues. I bet small communities do not want to be on TV for bad reasons.

un. F*****G. believable.
This man has sacrificed so much for his country...everywhere...to be denied this? at home in the US!
I hope this hits major media...and those damn liberals in true form are brought to the light
If that is the case, then Knobhead Hill isn't worth the dirt stuck in the tread of the boots SFC Gittens wore on his last deployment. I'd hate to leave a warrior such as he in the midst of scum like that.
HFOT needs to truck in a beat to crap single wide to that property and build SFC Gittens a beautiful home in an area where his neighbors welcome him with open arms.

If the HOA has a problem with the size/value of his home, they can chip in to make him a bigger one!
If they ain't got the cash, perhaps they can sell an arm or a leg...

Thank you for your service sir.:)
Am very familiar with HOA's, building codes, and custom-built disabled housing, etc, etc...and though your points are valid, I still believe in the old fashioned, "Bitch-Slap," approach with cowardly folks like Mr. Trump.
IMVHO, the "buck" stops with Him! He is the fu**in president of the damn HOA, so He should know that folks have heard about this, and are PISSED OFF!!!!!!!
Again, JMHO sir.

Echoes, I haven't served in those places, the thankyous should really go to the members of this board and people like SFC that is being screwed out of a nice home due to money. There is a website called http://www.kickstarter.com/ that allows people to donate to various causes. I think we have like what 25,000 members on this board, we can start something where everyone donates $4 and then the guy gets extra money to pay for the landscaping/irrigation design issues that Trump's associates have.
Does anyone have the "architectural" design of the proposed home to be built and existing building codes?
"One standard of construction, does NOT fit all when it comes to location."
Stay safe.
A House is a House - Not
As Richard says in many a post - all the information is not known - and Guy was the first to post any building requirements..
If his home meets all the required HOA building requirements and the HOA is saying "No" then it's him and not the house they are saying no to.
But if they require home, lawn and irrigation plans from everybody and he is "shorting" the requirements then they are saying "no" to the home and plans - not him.
People buy into communities with HOA's because they want the rules to be inforced. His might be only one home but it will touch or front with eight other homes. Those eight other lots voted to let the HOA speak for them in subdivision issues.
Unless of course the developer is still in control of the HOA.

Fair enough sir. I do try and say thank you to as many Veterans as I can, but understand if it is not welcomed.

Pete Sir,
From the article it states:
http://www2.wagt.com/news/2011/jun/2...an-ar-2018848/
26 News spoke with the "Homes For Our Troops" President John Gonsalves.
He says he's submitted everything the property association has asked for and received approval to build here June the 2nd.
"As of yet we don't have a final set plan. We have two conflicting sets of plans with a side entry garage and a front entry garage. There's no irrigation plan and there's no landscaping plan," Dowling tells 26 News.
"This homeowners association should be ashamed of themselves. They're falling back now on a plan for the irrigation and landscape. That's outrageous," says Gonsalves.
Homes for Our Troops wants to build the house at 2,700 square feet, which the property association says isn't big enough.
However, we looked at the requirements for the estate portion of Knob Hill and found the minimum square footage for a home in the estate area is no less than 2,700 square feet.
Seriously, I am familiar with HOA's, building codes, and sq. ft. for "Accessible" housing, and can say with confidence that the home I was in charge of from start to finish is the most beautiful in the entire Estate collection. "Just 'cause I could!";)
The more I investigate this community, the more the sh*t begins to stink!!! The online"welcome" letter from Mr. HOA President in my previous post made my blood boil Sir!!!

This thread, and other stories such as this: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/26/us-veteran-faces-legal-action-for-flying-american-flag/?test=latestnews ; are why I would never knowingly chose to live in an area governed by an HOA. IMO, it is one of those giving up liberty to achieve security situations that has more negatives than positives, besides making my blood boil.

No Sir. Just going off of the information provided in the original article posted by Richard.
However, in the case I was involved in...the HOA sq. ft. codes" were "on the line" at best looking at some of the other houses.
We just made sure ours was up to par, went over par, and was"custom" to the point that other HOA members added on after we built...just to keep up!;):lifter
This disabled Veteran is living in sub-par housing, and wants...(for some resaon,) to live in this Community.....so........My right-brain juist screams, why the fuck not??? He has earned it, damnit!!!
Again, JUMO,...which means nothing in reality Sir.:munchin

I'm just saying...liberties are being taken by the MSM of an individual(s) "veteran" status in order too create attracting headlines.....

From the article it states: 2700 SF.......
It also says Brick, Stone, Stucco or Fiber Cement (if of Country or Wliiamsburg Style) and a few other things.
Either all his plans meet the neighborhood standards as required for everybody else or they don't. If they do I would think threat of a lawsuit should shake the voting members of the HOA into replacing the board - or at least raising a stink with them.
If the neighborhood does nothing then I wouldn't mind if the lawsuit took the whole association to court and forced a large payment out of each and every member of the association.
Once a developer turns the HOA over to the owners it looks like the all biggest dick head yard Nazis in the development get a seat on the HOA Board.

Pete Sir,
I really, really, really, likr the way you thin Sir!:lifter
Holly...ANd hope emails are still being sent to the HOA President!
Holly
Why is it that a story about a specific HOA turns into a vent session against liberals?
What is the evidence that this community's political make up is any different than the rest of a county that voted strongly Republican in the 2008 and 2010 elections? What is the evidence that the HOA's decision was driven by national political ideology?
POS's! They should be ashamed of themselves.

I live two miles from this neighborhood. It is not known as "Snob Hill" for nothing.

Do you know what the residents do for a living by any chance?
This is the Knob Hill neighborhood.
http://homes.augusta.com/realestate?tp=Homes.Augusta.com&classification=mdRealEstate&temp_type=results&fv_neighborhood=KNOB%20HILL
They list 4 homes with less than the stated 2700 sq ft...
Richard :munchin
I just looked at a few of the addresses Richard posted for the area on Google Earth, including the street view. Looks like a bunch of cookie cutter brick houses with few front porches and lots of in-ground pools. Except for the pools, wouldn't be my personal choice for a house.
Do you know what the residents do for a living by any chance?
Some of them obviously bitch a whole lot...:D
There are a-lot of HOA managed neighborhoods here in Evans. What I see as f-ed up with the whole situation was a reversal of the approval to build.
Some HOAs are over the top. Snob Hill seems like one. Like Guy said...8/12 roof pitch...holy shit!
If the HOA said up front...the house does not meet the minimum requirements...then the folks could either build up...or move over to my neighborhood (we're vet friendly over here).

I just heard on the nightly news report that the HOA are holding their position regarding not allowing any more construction on the Vets home...........:( MF'ers........

I guess when you have lots of money, you cease to care about right and wrong.
Worthless pieces of scum...
Instead of putting construction gear on themselves and start digging holes for the groundwork, they worry and bitch about the property value.

It's a shame, a damn shame.
