I wish he'd left out the man on the bench...It's almost like saying "we the people are powerless".

They say a picture speaks a thousand words.....that one, so many more
Since the guy on the bench is an American, he will eventually get up and do something about it, when that happens, watch out.

If you go to his website and click on The Forgotten Man painting it will let you scroll over all the presidents and give you a quick run down on what they were famous for and there different policies that they implemented during there time.
I think that it is a great representation of what is happening today in our country. The government in some ways has definitely out stepped its boundaries in certain aspects but has helped in others.
Like TR says "De Oppresso Liber 01/20/2013"
Great find, I need to do some work to package this up in a post to my in-laws & out-laws.. :D
Thanks Snaque.. :lifter
Very colorful political cartoon.

Thanks. I feel obligated to spread this around.
I actually got a lump in my throat at the very end, seeing the Constitution being stepped all over in this painting. To me it is not just "a painting". It's truth.

A most powerful image to be sure. The artist has captured so much in this painting, I pray that his message is heard. It would have been most interesting if the man on the park bench looked more like Joe the plumber.

Maybe I will run it again. The first time I saw no women, no native Americans, none of the oriental community who built the railroads west nor any of the early Spanish settlers. Maybe that is what the guy on the bench is sad about.

You may be talking about this cartoonist:

It is powerful.
Perhaps as long as the population can be symbolized by a despairing fellow, we will, in fact, be powerless. Maybe the warrior spirit applies to things other than armed conflict - and is necessay in determining the outcome of the present situation.

A waste of paint.
but the comments posted on the youtube site were a hoot.

If I caughts the images correctly, they were all former presidents so none of those groups were represented. It is the challenge of remembering that many people built this country and many affected the laws as they and we grew. Congress and the Senate also seem powerless in the painting.
While it was well done for the point it was making, the point is, as usual, more complex.
As far as 'imagery' goes, the image of a POTUS 'stepping on the US Constitution' is missing a few Presidents.

More than a few! And some of those who did 'step on the Constitution' are NOT standing with the group looking at the current POTUS approvingly!

I have my own personal reasons for agreeing with Buffalobob statement. And as Richard has already remarked, the image of a POTUS 'stepping on the US Constitution' is missing a few Presidents. Too true.
In my eyes this clip was nothing more then blatent political pandering. Powerful and provocative imagery combined with an appropriate soundtrack and voiceover message.
I've always straightened my back with pride upon hearing the National Anthem. And Taps will get me misty-eyed everytime. This video is Neither.

He's also got a vid of a painting on his website of Jimmy Carter fending off a vicious rabbit with a boat paddle; would that choke you up?
