Well looks like this is something Israel will have to deal with in the near future but I do wonder what is being transported in the supply vessel. In the article they do state that they were inspected for anything illegal but how easy is it to bribe the customs there?

It could get more interesting, and if the canal were to be blocked or restricted we all might have to deal with it at the gas pump.

The Suez Canal used to be a major choke point for crude oil coming from the Middle East destined for Europe and the US. Two major incidents come to mind: 1956 and 1967 (until 1975), when shipment through the Suez Canal was completely blocked. At those times, almost 10% of global crude oil supply was trafficking through the Suez Canal. The introduction of Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) changed the picture dramatically. VLCCs are too large for the Suez Canal, but thanks to their size, VLCCs made shipments around the African Cape competitive with shipments through the Suez Canal. Nowadays less than 1% of global crude oil
supply is shipped through the Canal. The Suez Canal is a two-way street: crude oil and oil products are shipped in both directions: north to the Mediterranean and south to the Red Sea. The flows almost balance: some 55% of total shipped oil is Northbound and 45% is Southbound.

If they did, it wouldn't be just the threat of two ships coming across.
The IDF kicked Egyptian ass so bad they've walked funny ever since. The Tuts have never gotten over the shame of their soldiers removing their boots to run away faster in '56; if not for Ike, the Israelis would probably still be in the Sinai. What was that war over?
What I'm saying is, the Israelis don't take a lot of crap off anyone, and the only reason they've been so tolerant of late is because we've had White Houses with whom they were amenable.
They know Iran for what she is-Israel's abject enemy.
Now, they're to be rebuked and stranded by their former ally, and they don't give a flip what Obama may think, IMO.
I think that maybe this is just done so people focus on Israel and it's potential reactions as a way of removing eyes of the media at the attempted protests in Iran.

I can't help but think of Pavel Andreievich Chekov trying to communicate the presence of Iranian vessels in the Suez Canal to his fellow officers at Starfleet.

CAIRO (AFP)--Two Iranian naval ships entered the Suez Canal on Tuesday, a canal source said, en route to Syria on a purported training mission that Israel regards as a provocation.
"The two ships entered the Canal on Tuesday at around 5:45 a.m. (0335 GMT), the official said.
They were the first Iranian warships through Suez since the 1979 Islamic revolution, and are reportedly bound for Syria, a destination that necessarily involves passing Israel.
Egypt's official MENA news agency has reported that the request for the ships to transit the canal said they were not carrying weapons or nuclear and chemical materials.
