I would assume they are doing a hop n pop in order to get a little more air time with the better chutes.
The boat drops real quick and drifts with the wind. All you have to do is keep pointed at it until just before you hit the water.
With a static line drop at 1,250 - 1,500 it's not too hard for # 6 maybe # 7 to get close - if they're small and good with a chute. At least close enough for the first in the boat to get an eye one them. # 8 and # 9 would be a bit out there and in a choppy sea a bit harder to find.
If it was a static line drop and it was our team # 1 would be about two steps down the ramp and moving fast when the boat was in the position it is in the picture. No matter how fast you are you ain't never going to catch it before it hits the water - but once it hits the water you still have plenty of air time to move in on it.

Pretty impressive. Never know what high speed stuff is being developed right down the street.
