Anyone here got a favorite toast?

Here are a few favorites of mine.

TR

"Here's to us,
And those like us.
Damn few and they're probably dead.
Cheers!"

"May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand."

"May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead."

May those who love us love us.

And those that don't love us,

May God turn their hearts.

And if He doesn't turn their hearts,

May he turn their ankles,

So we'll know them by their limping.

Here's tae us -
Wha's like us -
Damn few -
And they're a' deid -
Mairs the pity!

May our commanders have the eye of a Hawke and the heart of a Wolfe.

To the memory of Wellington and all like him.

Chelsea Hospital and its supporters.

To the memory of George Washington.

May the enemy’s flag be surmounted by the American standard.

May the arms borne by a soldier never be used in a bad cause.

May American soldiers fight to protect, and conquer to save.

May the gifts of fortune never cause us to steer out of our latitude.

May the brow of the brave never want a wreath of laurel to adorn it.

May the army of America never feel dismayed at its enemies.

May the brave soldier who never turned his back to the enemy never have a friend turn his back to him.

May bronze and medals not be the only reward of the brave.

May no rotten members infect the whole corps.

May the laurels of America never be blighted.

May all weapons of war be used for warlike purposes only.

May the soldier never fall a sacrifice but to glory.

To the memory of all brave soldiers who fall in defense of their country.

The memory of a great general and splendid genius, though ambitious and tyrannical.

—Napoleon Bonaparte

May the roof above us never fall in, and may we friends below never fall out.

To wives and sweethearts - may they never meet.

To absent friends.

To ourselves (as no one else is liable to care about our welfare).

This one's a bit of a play on words:

"Here's to honor!
to getting honor!
and to not getting off her,
until you get off on her!"

Would you believe an ex-marine shared that one with me?

I dated a mad Columbian for a while. If I recall correctly she would always say

"A lo que los muertos no tienen...Salud! (Not sure if I quite said that right?)

Loosely translated it ment. "To what the dead people don't have - Health!"

She really was completely nuts... ;)

"I thought of the orphans and widows he had made, of the tears that had been shed for his glory, and of the only woman who ever loved him, pushed from his heart by the cold hand of ambition. And I said I would rather have been a French peasant and worn wooden shoes. I would rather have lived in a hut with a vine growing over the door, and the grapes growing purple in the kisses of the autumn Summer sun. I would rather have been that poor peasant with my loving wife by my side, knitting as the day died out of the sky, with my children upon my knees and their arms about me. I would rather have been that man and gone down to the tongueless silence of the dreamless dust, than to have been that imperial impersonation of force and murder, known as _________. "

If you toast in Russian, formally or to a group, Russians would say, "za vashe zdorovie." (To your health)

A great answer if someone toasts you with the above -- is "Dai Bozhe." (God willing/giving)

...und jetzt Deutsch!

"Zum Wohl" works for any wine drinkers out there -- especially in Glühwein season.

Cheers to all of you!

To be honest, you can only say it once, and only after the "third" shot. It dosen't help to be sober.

A funny story, a friend called me the next day, saying, "What was the toast?".

I retold it, he hung up.

There's a couple my friends and I like to yell when we've had a few. A version of the one above:

"To honor,
If you can't get in her, get honor.
If you can't cum in her, come honor.
To honor!"

Now what 80's movie is this from?
"To the Army and the Navy, and the battles they've won.
To America's Colors, the colors that never run.
May the wings of Liberty, never lose a feather.
Here's to good 'ol US of A for worse or for better!!"

I always enjoy a vulgar, yet funny toast, so I'll share with you guys a few of my favorites:

lotta versions of this one, but the one I heard was

"Here's to you, Here's to me!
Friends forever, we shall be.
Should we ever disagree...
f* you... here's to me!"

another adaptation for the Honor toast is simply;

"A toast to on-her (honor),
Here's to getting on-her
Staying on-her
and if you cant cum in her
cum on-her"

"A toast to the Matron of Honor,
and all the times we laid upon her,
We f*ed her standing, we f*ed her lying,
If she had wings, we'd f*ed her flying.
Now she's dead, but not forgotten,
Lets dig up her bones and f* her rotten!"

"Here's to the breezes,
that blow through the trees'es,
That lift girls skirts up to their knees'es
She pleases, she teases, she bends those knee'es
Look at that snatch... down the hatch!"

And on a less vulgar note, a Captain on my team once said (I'm sure he stole it from a movie)

"Never Lie, Cheat, Steal, or drink...
If you must lie... lie with a beautiful woman,
if you must cheat, cheat death,
if you must steal, steal a woman's heart,
if you must drink, may it always be with your friends""

there are many versions of that one.

"Big Trouble in Little China", Kurt RussellIf any movie from the 1980s merits a sequel, it is Big Trouble in Little China.

Get Kim Cattrall to reprise Gracie Law, cast Kate Hudson as Jack Burton's and Gracie Law's daughter, and the audience mix will be bizarre: fanboys and cougars.

If John Carpenter won't do it, get Ang Lee. (Mr. Lee owes everyone for Hulk.)
