Have any of you guys noticed any significant changes in focus, attitudes, etc. since the GWOT started? I'm thinking mostly about Bragg and Benning, maybe Carson and Campbell.
Is there a more serious attitude? Is a lot of the BS gone? That kind of thing.
The reason I ask is its been a couple of years now and thought maybe enough time has passed to see any changes.
Unfortunately not that I have seen. The usual "command philosophy" rhetoric has taken a more serious slant, but on the whole I have yet to see someone walk the walk. Keep in mind this is my perspective (on a particular unit) based upon input from my students (class after class). The latest example is deploying over to Iraq with weapons not assigned to the individuals, no zero, no qualification, not even a test fire. This after two years of sustained operations.

I know this isn't what you're looking for, but I couldn't get into the aerospace museum at Edwards AFB. Was closed to the public after 9-11.

It is tremendously different from when we were young soldiers.
Most of the leadership has a new focus as well. Going to funerals of young soldiers with families will do that for you.
Having over 1/2 of the troops on post deployed at any given time lets the community appreciate them as well.

FT Drum. It's more STRAC than Bragg was during the RVN war. It is a shame that such a high speed Post is near the Artic Circle and non-Airborne. I saw more PFCs, Specs, and PVTs with CIBs since Vietnam. I visit the place, because 560 miles is a short distance to visit my son in the 10th MTN ID.
BTW, it's 31 miles to Canada and commie cigars, just don't bring any home.

well, that is what I have always assumed it was. I can't wait to hear if I have been misinterpreting all these posts that whole time. haha

It's called a typographical error with the "E" being an extra character. It is sometimes pronounced "woteverthephuk".:mad:
GWOT was actually the administration's second choice, but it was much more palatable than The War Against Terror in certain forms. :D

Well i havent been to a Army base in some time but i can tell you that not much has changed on LUKE AFB (well except the army is there pulling secuirty, that would be me and my unit) the chair force doesnt really seem all to worried about the Gobal war. Damn shame people dont learn from the past.
