Hmong refugees

I read today that the US is allowing the Hmong refugees in Loas to immigrate.

This is headlined in the Guardian as " US pays debt at last to Vietnam war allies".

They will have to learn alot to adapt to the US I am sure. One old man is quoted :
""The Americans deserted us in 1975," Mr Yang said. "We fought for them for 12 years and then at the end of the war they just left. It really hurt. It's like tears have run down my face ever since and this help now is wiping them away."

This situation is a much larger version, perhaps (except to the individuals of course) to the ex South Lebanese army personal and their families after Israel pulled out.

Ask Kerry. He was instrumental in the anti-war sentiment which led to the U.S. pulling out. In reality there are many USSF still in Thailand and Laos working with the tribesmen. We,USSF, didn't desert them. They now own a tract of land in the NC mountains which is very similar to their homeland. It was paid for by donations to and by the Save the Montangnards Program (STMP). STMP is a project of SF veterans of Vietnam.

There are about 200,000 Hmong in the United States. They didn't all arrive this year.

Danjam sent me a PM and I would like to acknowledge it publically. Danjam I appreciate your thoughts and no attack was intended.

As for the Hmong, their situation is a real shame. The Montagnards aren't too far removed from the stone age. They were simple and almost childlike people. I don't ever recall a Montagnard child crying. Bringing the Hmong to the States may save them from the wrath of the communist powers in the area, but I fear it will also destroy a beautiful society - better we had continued to fight for their freedom. It will be a shame to see them converted to the "money speaks all" values of the West. The relocation program to the Uhwahri Forest in NC is a real step in the right direction. They will be able to carry on their "native" lifestyle in peace.:boohoo
