Yesterday, as I was driving to Sacramento to visit my Father-in-Law, I drove through Stockton and noticed signs to the Sharpe Army Depot. These signs triggered memories of my time in RVN.

We used to receive crates of obsolete weapons and exotic weapons from the Sharpe Army Depot. Every time that I used an M-1 carbine or an M-2 it came from a crate from Sharpe. Every time that I was issued a Colt Woodsman (silenced) it came from Sharpe... How many of you experienced using weapons from Sharpe Army Depot?

Sharpe was the Army's Pacific through-shipping depot, not necessarily where your weapons originated from.

As a kid I used to watch hundreds of helicopters flying en route from Sharpe railhead to Oakland Army Depot (to be put on ships for RVN).

I'm not sure how active Sharpe is currently, as much of the PACOM stuff now routes through Defense Logistics Agency Depot - Tracy.

The depots in that area were consolidated and Tracy has most of the activity.

Sharpe is still there, though.
