This is a new one out of my neck of the woods. I didn't find any previous mentions of it on the site, but let me know if I missed it.
Recently, two armed perps tried to rob a Dutch Brothers coffee kiosk (those little drive-up huts) and try to rob a barista. The barista just happens to be armed and ends up killing one perp, the other ran for his life.
The LEs investigated it and aren't charging him. It's now come out that he was packing against company policy, but Dutch Brothers isn't going to fire him. In fact, he's on paid leave until he's ready to come back to work.
I may have to learn to tolerate their coffee and become a regular customer.

If you look at past news items about this story, get a kick out of the dead perp's friends and family mourning his tragic loss
Pretty good discription of the 2nd perp.
But the family of the poor misunderstood man who was just about to turn his life around and become a rap star has no clue who perp # 2 was
OK - profile statement - that hat on sideways says a lot about the dead perp. Was that - oh, never mind.

Fortunately there is a wealth of IMINT available within the deceased's Facebook social network and the detective working the case is aware of that. From a glance at the photos, several should be at least a few leads on perp #2.
The family of the deceased seem to view him as unlucky (that's an understatement, at this point) and a victim of society's misjudgments.
Kinda gives a whole new meaning when they ask, "Wanna double shot with that?" :D

ARRRARRRRARRRR!
Now that was timely my friend!
I kept a close eye on this after it happened. I'm glad it turned out the way it did for the barista. Being Eugene it wouldn't have surprised me if it would have whent south. That Dutch Bro's had been robbed once or twice before if I'm not mistaken and it is franchised owned, not Dutch Bros corporate. I'm glad the owner put him on paid leave until he's ready to return.

Hey fellow Oregonite! Eugene has me perplexed with their views on guns. There was that infamous Carls Jr shooting (happened before I got here) where the father apparently shot and killed some kid harassing his high school daughter. Father didn't go to jail.
There was also a guy near 13th in Eugene who caught a burglar in his neighbor's house, chased him down the street, shot him dead, and he didn't get charged. This was what? almost 10 years ago?
But open carry anywhere in town and you'll have the SWAT team on you in 30 seconds. (I never open carry in Eug myself, but these incidents are in the news occasionally).
