"I don't care" and "I teach political science at Berkley" ... always good counterpoints. :p

Normally I say, "It's funny because it's true!"

This time it's not funny because it's true. :(

"I don't care" and "I teach political science at Berkley"

Good Stuff, though from personal experience the Poli Sci department and student body at CAL in general is not nearly as liberal as perceptions from the 1960's or the city of Berkeley.

The reason is simple, it's a top public school and thus much cheaper instate than comparable private options, so many majors are always severely impacted and they grade on a straight curve, so the school is actively trying to weed people out from day one. You figure out real quick, the folks running around protesting to "Save the Gay Whales" etc., instead of hitting the books flunk out real fast. It's sink or swim from day one. Kaplan mentioned in one of his books military folks from CAL and other public universities tend to do well, if true, perhaps it's partly because they weren't as coddled in college as private university students.

FWIW though you do see some weird and I do mean weird things there.
