Bart was a true friend to all SF Medics and spent countless hours helping us find work; he expected nothing more than a thank you.
RIP Bart. His "Royal Heimsness" was good friend and a good soldier. I am sad to hear of his passing. My prayers are with Patty and his family.

Bart's Memorial proved how well respected he was. I will wear my "Team Heimsness" bracelet with pride for my friend - until it rots off my wrist. As a great way to honor Bart - help a soldier, or donate to OASIS, or donate to the American Cancer Society. I can only hope to have made a tenth of the contributions Bart made when my time comes. He has left us all some big footprints to fill. Let's all take joy and pride in having known him, he'll laugh at us from heaven if we don't "drive on till hurts, then really push".

Rest in Peace - Brother. :(
Some callings find a man, other times some men find a calling - you were that man. I'm very glad to have known you as a friend and a co-worker. You will be missed.

While I see that this thread is now a bit dated, as JD told me "it's never too late to pay your respects to a brother" and I thank you for the opportunity.
I was saddened to learn about this news of Bart. I discovered it via this site. I had been in touch with Bart off and on since 2001 but had not been in contact for over a year and I didn't know about his situation.
Like others, I knew Bart for many years. Of the faces I can clearly recall, his is one of them.
Always cheerful, he had those unusual blue eyes and grin with a smart-alecky good natured sense of humor. He was a friend that you could count on for moral support if you ever needed it.
His work with OASIS further speaks to his character and legacy. Rest easy brother. You are missed.
