Turn off your TV, ignore the media and just go vote. Think of what a surprise it will be for you on Wednesday.

What is really interesting about this election is not the conservative turn, but the inclusive nature of rhetoric from the republican party claiming Tea Party elected as their own.
It's very subtle, but if you were discriminately listening to both major parties, as they attacked the candidates representing the Tea party, it was the perfect example of collusion in a two party system, as neither party wants a third party realized in this country, and in that regard they jointly work together to marginalize the third party usurps. Leaving the voting public with the same two headed single body snake.
If the Tea party is to be a rejuvenating force the newly elected need to maintain their independence and not align themselves with the republican party.
Example of the inclusive rhetoric, but when you open the article not a word of the Tea Party is mentioned, in fact its dismissive.

Yeah, but all of the Dim scumbags in NC I have seen called so far got returned to the US House. Even Etheridge may be back. More Dim than Repub Reps. What has happened to my state?
I am shocked at the lack of change in the US Senate races.
Unless something miraculous happens, the Senate is going to remain Dim, and in fact, Harry Reid may still be the Majority Leader.
I hope that the Repubs in Congress can hold the line and maintain a positive rep, because if we could not win everything today with this wave of support, we are probably going to see Obama blame the House and get a second term in 2012.

I think it will remain Dim - but with Schumer at Majority Leader. I think Reid is an idiot, but Schumer scares me. He's a smarmy, arrogant jerk.

That's not such a bad outcome. It's not as good as neither of them being majority leader, but there is a bright side. Schumer will disgust and annoy so many people that he'll be a great asset to get people to come over to the right side. That is, he'll have an effect on the next election that is much like Obama's on this one.
This has been a good night so far...and it's not over yet.

I agree with the assessment. Much like the "wave" ridden in by the Dims, the Reps will suffer a similar fate if it is business-as-usual inside the Beltway.
As an optimistic cynic I would suggest continued fleecing of America and a rip-current to follow.
Time will tell, but I am not holding my breath.
The "Tea party" is not done yet... Those newly elected Republicans are on probation, and I think they know it. If they don't change things, and do their job, they will be replaced. The thing is, we need more people, with better resumes, to run for office.
They are currently talking "change" on the news... The American people want REAL change, not Obama change. He promised "change" and brought back half of the Clinton administration, and Hillary herself. That was the wrong change. That was "change back". His huge mistake.
The American people are sick and tired, and this election should serve as a wake up call to all politicians, regardless of which side of the coin they are. We are fed up, and will continue to "change" until we are happy.

Maybe we move to political office by lottery. Everyone on the "list" is a potential candidate, you have to explain why you should not have the job, be it, family commitments, health, business - conflict of interest, etc.
Better yet, political office is "Jury Duty".
I'd like to be the guy 200 years ago who said, "Mr. Franklin, we need you to attend a meeting in France, build relationships there in the event England become too arrogant in taxation towards our business efforts".
Franklin: "I'm kinda busy right now, not real interested to going, have no interest in France or do I even care what England thinks of us".
Me: "Nice try, your ship sails in 2 weeks, have your business in order, you're going, good luck".
It's going to be a long time before political office is respected as a chosen profession.

I went turkey hunting and got int the woods too early. The turkeys were still on the roost and saw me and flew over the river into W Va. I nearly got trampled by a small buck who was nearsighted enough to think I might be a doe in heat!
Came home put away my guns as you are not allowed to shoot anyone while voting and went down to my place to vote. Noticed that my ballot had no senators to vote for. Democracy, freedom and equality are like money, its great if you have it but not so good if you don't.

Good that the Republicans will have the House.
Jerry Brown will now be the Govenor of California and Barbara Boxer has retained her Senate seat.

Yes, but it remains to be seen whether the Tea Party benefits or hinders Obama in 2012. Specifically if there is a viable three candidate race for the White House in 2012, and the conservative vote is split between the Republicans and the Tea Party, doesn't this help the Dims?

I can't believe how badly Meg Whitman's campaign was run. I voted for her but I wasn't happy about it. Jerry Brown was and still is an idiot. If you read anything about his two previous terms as governor, he gave away the state. California is the 8th largest economy in the world and is broke. It began with Jerry Brown. If you need more, look at his appointment of Rose Bird as California's Chief Justice. She commuted the death sentences of over 70 murderer's. Geezus Melvin Christ.

IMO, she proved herself to be cut from the same cloth as the current American president in that she confused a personality trait (ambition for its own sake) as a qualification for a job she was in no way ready to do. (For this reason, and her noxious television ads, I voted against her.)
As for Governor-elect Brown. Well, as the old Vulcan saying goes, "Only Nixon could go to China." Maybe Brown will take the unprecedented--and necessary--step of taking on the unions that have supported him for so long.
(As for his previous contributions to the Golden State's current situation, I do not know if he is held responsible for some of the unintended consequences of Proposition 13, which he opposed.)

The Republicans dodged a bullet in Colorado...if they had received less than 10% in the gubernatorial election (they netted 11.1%), they would have been classified a minor party until 2020...that would have put them down the ballot with Libertarians, Green, Rent is too dam high and Mugwumps...one has to wonder if they bother to vet their potential candidates...it's too bad Tancredo got in the race so late...anyway, the top of the next ballot will include the Dims, Pubes, and American Constitution Party...
I am still puzzled why Sharron Angle was nominated in NV...she ran for the House district I used to live in and what I saw was someone who gave meaning to the words vacous and vapid...I find her nomination for the Senate seat almost as amusing of Mr. Green in SC...
I'm glad all this is over until Groundhog Day or so, when folks start announcing their run for the White House...it is sad that our political process has become a full-time, year-round sport, allowing the likes of vermin like James Carville and Dick Morris to earn a living feeding off the carcass of our system of government...

Not much really. The MSM swings into reelect Obama mode this week. That includes all D's, both in office and running for office.
When the D'd took the house, yes they did, in 2006 and they were running the budget process everything was still Bush's Fault - still is according to Obama.
Now the drum beat begins "Republican's Fault". Everything will be placed at the feet of the Republican House.
And the Republican Leadership (entrenched politicians) have their blinders on - from everything about strategy to the amount of help they got vs what they gave to the Tea Party energy.
So right now I can see Obama getting reelected and the House going back to the D's.
Just like with McCain, the Republican Leadership turns a blind eye - and back stabs - the Palins and Bauchmans who are bringing energy to the Republican party.
To steal a thought its like "Yeah, you Tea Party folks might have built the bus but we're driving - so go sit in the back."
So Ethridge "finds" 450 votes for himself, gets into recount numbers and calls for a recount. Ellmers, who is broke and ran a shoestring campaign with no national Republican help now calls on the Party to help her with lawyer fees for the recount. The leaderships answer? "NO. Hey, we won enough. We don't need another Tea Party dudette."
