Mike Meredith didn't look like he almost lost his life in a violent attack when he got off a plane at Lindbergh Field on Tuesday.

He walked into the terminal with his bags on a cart and a sling on his arm. It's incredible, considering what he went through a week earlier.

"The situation was horrible, but I lived through it," Meredith said in an exclusive interview with NBC San Diego.

The San Diego resident was in Cabo San Lucas last week for a fishing tournament called the "Bisbee Black and Blue."

While walking to his hotel alone after dinner, Meredith was robbed by a gunman. He was shot twice, including once in the neck, where a bullet is still lodged a fraction of an inch from his spine.

The gunman got away and Meredith was taken to a hospital in Cabo San Lucas. When he was well enough to travel he flew back to San Diego.

Ironically, the fishing team he went to Cabo with for the tournament is called "Rehab." The team also won the "Bisbee Black and Blue" while Meredith was recovering in the hospital.

Meredith can't wait to go back to Cabo next year to defend his team's title. He said he's not afraid of going to Cabo, despite his near death experience.

"Anybody that's considering going to Cabo San Lucas, go for it, because it's not a dangerous town," Meredith said. "I don't want this one incident to take away from the tourism, because they need it."

Meredith is now being evaluated at UCSD Medical Center. He said he should find out when the bullet will be removed sometime on Wednesday.

I thought 357 SIG was the absolute minimum for concealed carry. :munchin

According to Senor Calderon, El Presidente, The pinches gabachos are the reason the drug trade is in existence and los pinches gabachos mismos are bringing in the weapons...

Small, but one almost killed George C. of B/2/7 when he was shot down at the Blue Marble one night.

I prefer the Seecamp LWS-25, if .25 is all I can carry.

I don't know the .25 is a step up from a BB gum.
