In 1797,French balloonist Andre-Jacques Garnerin made the first recorded parachute descent,landing safely from a height of about 3,000 feet over Paris........;)

Correct and one was actually built to Leo's specs, just like the picture, and jumped/dropped with a man under it. The coolest part is that it worked. :)

Looks a lot like it doesn't? Just don't have to hang onto the suspension line as you do with Leonardo's. :)
That took some major league cajones to try that back then though. He didn't even get to go off the 250' tower first. I wonder if the lady was appropriately impressed.
