307th Engineers

Military History: Engineers often are the quiet heroes

http://www.fayobserver.com/articles/2010/09/26/1032783?sac=Col

"A bit of military history will be remembered this week at McKellar's Pond on Fort Bragg.

Around 6 a.m. Wednesday, the men of a company of the newly reflagged 307th Airborne Engineer Battalion will open a three-hour ceremonial exercise observing a historic moment in airborne engineer history, the battle crossing of the Waal River at Nijmegen in the Netherlands in World War II.

That took place Sept. 20, 1944................."

Mr Parker does some great stories on local military history - and even has a book out. You can find it down at the Airborne & Special Ops Museum in Fayetteville.
