Since it is that time of year again.
Here's a shot of three punks in my feeder. 1 1/2 year olds.
Better upgrade on the feed, they need fatten up LOL Hopefully will have some to post from mine after this weekend.
Wow, I want to graze at your place,,
You even give them a roof over their dinning accommodations..
Is there music??

No music. Bought the roof feeder so the feed would stay dry.
A friend has a bow shop. I'm getting ready to buy some new molasses-lick tub from him, which supposedly has some deer-viagra in it. Allegedly, the deer really like it, which should help with getting some photos of some bigger deer.
I might not use as much "doe-in-heat" scent this fall.

I do, I respect wildlife and like to check them out...don't just put them in the freezer. Though seeing an Elk off season makes my mouth water ;)
Here's one of a goat that I got too close to, he got a little to curious after the photo. You can't tell from the pic but its on a ledge on some huge cliffs, I'm on the edge. (a drop of about 600ft on a topo). Second one (not a good pic because I'm far away) shows part of the cliffs.

Deer Camera Catches Burglar On Tape

I found that if you hand spread the corn over the entire viewing area you can keep the herd in longer and pick up on some interesting behavior. My game cam lost it's screen so I need another but I doubt that I will ever feed again. Last year I had a very healthy herd of fourteen animals that were almost entirely killed off by poachers. Community and neighborhood deer are semi-domesticated and easy pickings for "hunters" who go after easy prey. Two of the young bucks this year attacked my mother-in-laws concrete buck ornament. Man I wish that I had that on video. I chased them off before they could break off the antlers with their hoof strikes. I had a young tom show up this spring. I guess he had heard that there was feed on that hill. I put some of my deer cam photos on my facebook page. I think that stills are easier to manage than the videos for your records.
I don´t feed anymore, because if I put anything edible in front of the camera in the forest, there will be hundreds of wild boar pictures in the morning. I prefer to go deeper in the wood and find the deer trail, and put the cam there without bait. Right now I am 5 months deployed, and my bushnell trophy cams are in the woods all the time, I am really curious if they are still working, or damaged, or stolen. Well, they worked for 4 months over the winter without change of batteries or need to dry up, and we got long winter here, so there is a fat chance.

That sucks, I thought you might like the below article which I came across after reading this thread.
When presented with the photograph (shown), which deputies said clearly shows him with the camera in his hand, Archibald allegedly told them he was not stealing the camera but taking it so the property owner would not hunt the deer in the area. Detectives added the incriminating photo also shows Archibald's dog and a "No Trespassing" sign in the background.

Key Deer
The old fellow is about as big as any get, maybe 70-80 lbs. His diet is starting to suffer, ergo the 5x1 rack.. It is hard to see, but he has a golf ball swell over his left eye, presumably from a butt.
The button was very aggressive. He was trying to push the 5x1 out of the way. May be the next big guy.
The 3x3 in the back ground was timid. I don't think he got close enough to get any of the offerings..
We do not feed the deer, per say. We do recycle all veggie & starch matter in our "open compost area" (side yard), if we have any. May go 5-8 days without.
There is a 30-40 head heard that lives at the end of the street. They visit several times a day.
We trade compost access for small organic pellet fertilizer lawn enhancement dropping.
I consider it a fair trade,, The show for the Touristas is a nice benefit..

Nice Fox BushRanger...
The predators are some of the harder ones to get on cam especially at night.
While doing research in the Galiuro Mountains I had a couple of low hung cams damaged, later determined to be by cats (Jaguar [the biter] and possibly mt. Lion on the second). Apparently the IR attracts their attention and they just have to play with it. Both cams where unusable after playtime, one with quite large puncture holes dangling from the tree, the other took more than an hour to find. Now use the flash only. Heard similar stories with fox and bear.
GJ!

That really sucks Badshot... have you seen that National Geographic trail cam research on snow leopards?? Some unbelievable pics there. The biggets cat we have over here is lynx, but it´s very elusive and rare, I haven´t been successful - Yet;)
Bushranger, Haven't seen the video on the Snow Leopard research video, very cool animals though, very rare as well. I'll look it up later. Cats (the loner types) are difficult in the best conditions to see or get on cam. The most results come from cams that are well hidden and point across game trails in remote areas. Researcher's call'em camera traps for a reason. (remote meaning: as few people as possible, no motorized traffic within at least a couple of miles.) A major exception is some places in California and near Tucson.
We have some Lynx here as well but have only seen one in four years. It was brutual getting to the area where it was (&*#@ SNOW). In contrast, I normally see a Mt Lion at least once a year. Best place to find them is at 5000ft or higher with deep snow and cover (at least in CONUS). They mostly only eat snowshoes so look for bunny tracks as well. Important point, they (the Lynx) are known to regulate their numbers based on the snowshoe population. So the more bunny's the better chances.
Would love to see that one...
Still enjoy seeing good ones of fox like you took. Seems pretty relaxed just sniffin' around, those are the best!
take care
I haven't contributed any pics lately (been lazy) but I grabbed this still from one of our security cams today of me dragging a coyote I tagged about 3/4 of mile from the cabin. She was too fluffy to pass up

I am getting to the point where I like messing with the game cameras as much as I like the hunting.
Hmmm, I like being close to them in person and the wet work. Though, you do sometimes see things on the cams that are difficult, if not unlikely, to see in person.
Looks like a Zoo over there craigepo...
Was finally able to get the wife to hear/see a deer calf talkin' to its mother this past year. Think the live experience is one she'll never forget.
ps. Would of gotten a close up of the coyote the other day but it was an angled head shot. nuff said

Wired just publish a series of game pictures and videos collected from around the World. There is one video of a ridge in China that looks like it was shot in a zoo. It's got one of each..
Catching images of wild animals, especially rare ones, can be exceedingly difficult for photographers. But the Smithsonian Institution recently released more than 200,000 wildlife images captured by automated cameras hidden in forests, mountains and savannas across the globe.
Called Smithsonian Wild, the project harbors five years’ worth of photographs collected in seven countries by dozens of camera traps that take photos when animals wander nearby. Some are equipped with night vision, strobe flashes and other gizmos, and some can record video.
“Each camera-trap image is a record of an animal in space and time, a record of life on Earth. To my knowledge, this is the largest database of such photos in existence,” said the Smithsonian’s Robert Costello, co-leader of the project. “If you create a research-grade repository that’s safe and secure, it’s going to be useful to researchers for a long, long time.”
The scent of one person can spook shy creatures for miles around, which is when camera traps come in handy. The devices take pictures only when an animal’s heat signature is detected by sensors inside a weatherproof housing. Hunters have popularized camera traps to better track and map game, but scientists use them to observe secretive animal behaviors, estimate at-risk wildlife populations and even rediscover species once thought to be extinct.
“Many animals leave virtually no sign of their existence, so camera traps are just a godsend for people like me,” said wildlife ecologist William McShea of the Smithsonian Institution, co-leader of the project. “It’s much better than looking at a handful of feces and wondering what dropped it. These images are like museum-quality specimens with collection dates, locations, species names and other veracious metadata.”
The $29,000 pilot project used only a portion of more than a million camera-trap photos available to the Smithsonian. Costello, McShea and others hope to launch a new version that incorporates older camera-trap images and has features hat will make it easier for scientists to use and upload data. The team also wants to enlist the public’s help in deploying camera traps, which cost anywhere between $200 and $600 each.
“These cameras aren’t rocket science. I can train anyone to use them in under two hours, even kids,” McShea said. “I’d love to have school systems deploying these in Montana, Indiana and other regions, then uploading that stuff to our database.”
Aside from bolstering future research, McShea said the database is an engrossing way to learn about animals in their natural environments.
“Pictures of wild animals are usually very majestic, showing them regally, off in the distance. But camera traps bring out the good, the bad and the ugly,” he said. “You can see them scratching their privates, being bit by vampire bats and even mating. It’s not what you’d expect, and it makes their existence more real to me.”
The gallery above shows off some of the collection’s best images and videos.

Yes, right in a patch of woods in the front of the property. Have only seen that buck one more time since that series of pics. But we have identified 5 separate bucks of varying size. One with another nice rack, but not compared to that spread. I'll post some more later.

Hi guys, wanted to share a couple pictures of a buck that's been hanging around my property the past month. He's like a bull with antlers. Today I saw him chasing 5 younger bucks, but I only managed to get a picture of 4. I highlighted him with the larger font.
I took the first picture about a month ago, and had to crop it so I apologize for the grainy image. I snapped the second picture today.
Thank "slick willie" for sending Special Forces soldiers to train the mexican army, 99% of that training now is in the hands of the cartels.
lol Yeah, they just added an item to their "B-52" list,
"Doan jack no theeng radioacteev, cabrones!"

That's a Big one...You near a Nuke plant :D
I've heard an old air base nearby is being used as a radioactive dump site, maybe that's the culprit :p

Think I've been near there, now the extra nut makes sense...
Nice pic's and gene pool.
Got my Game Camera set up yesterday afternoon. Got it covering my driveway area. Got some rumpling through cars about once a week in the neighborhood.
We'll see how long it takes to get a picture of Urbanis Criminalis.
Nothing but us coming and going last night.

You need better bait. I put 50 pounds of corn out to bring in deer. Not sure what you might use

Have any of y'all had any luck with GSM cameras? I'm looking for a real-time solution in a remote area. WiFi is not an option.

When I worked as a biosciences technician for the USDA in Florida, we used to use them all the time. I have had great luck with them. PM me if you would like more info.
