Reason 1,000,001 Why I Love My Husband

Somehow I thought you all might understand, so I decided to post.

Some of you have met my husband and know that he is no shrinking violet. A rather large man with the heart of a lion and the patience of a saint.

He held my daughter's gerbil in his hand for two hours tonight until he was sure he passed away, because he didn't want him to be alone when he died. Nibbles was 5.

He often jokingly asks me why I love him so much, and I usually have some smart ass retort about any number of things.

Tonight I told him this is the 1,000,001 reason why I love him so much.

Just curious, but how did he know the gerbil was going to die? Was it sick or something?

It was just old. It was brething irregularly, take a breath, doesn't move for about 3-4 minutes, and then the body shakes and he takes another small one.

Went on for what seemed like forever. Thankfully it didn't.

My condolences to your daughter. I buried two hamsters last year for my youngest. Fun little critters...but they do have a short life span.

All hamsters (like all parakeets) CAN look alike. Pet Stores stay open after bedtime.
Parenting rule number 1,745; Never buy a cage pet with distinctive markings.

I know this guy. I will vouch for him. (AFCHIC probably left out the part about CPR or offering to donate a kidney.)
