ladies, gents,

I'm inclined to trust PS.com esteemed members more than a blindshot at craigslist etc., so if I may solicit your help:
Army nurse officer looking for anyone with extra room or basement/guesthouse near WAMC (5 miles or less) to rent for $400 or less. Arriving last week of September. Will be out working 12 hours+ most days and need place mainly to sleep and unwind. Easy going, quiet, and neat, and willing to submit to any background/drug check etc. Please PM or email me. You can also post apartment recommendations. Thanks a lot for the help.

Five miles will barely get you off post, and into some unsavory neighborhoods. Cheap in Fatalville means dangerous.

The Randolph Pointe apartments on post are pretty nice, I hear. Right by the Main Post PX and Commissary. http://www.randolphpointe.com/ Rent is more than you want to spend though.

If she wants to get off post, the apartments on Morganton and Cliffdale are not bad, but the traffic on Yadkin and Reilly can be tough. Rent there will probably be closer to her limit, but not cheap. Maybe she knows someone else here who needs a roommate to split expenses.

Best of luck!

Not trying to hijack, but Khristos! Per at least one website, Fayetteville (http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/nc/fayetteville/crime/) is MORE dangerous (e.g more crimes per capita) than Baltimore (http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/md/baltimore/crime/) and B'more has 6 times the population!

Why are some areas so "bad"?

Cottonade may have some one bedroom apartments in their homes. It's right outside the Reilly/Yadkin gate and safe enough. That's the neighborhood where I would look if in that situation. She's best off looking for a 1 bedroom apartment in a house or as a mother-in-law suite attached to a house rather than in an apartment complex.
