According to the requirements listed on Page 5 of DHS Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, either a valid DL + an SSAN card or a Permanent Resident Card or Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551) are all that is required.

However, I don't understand the penchant for all the lawsuit stuff by the DOJ; I would think a warning + memo to the states with an intent to make corrections would be enough. :confused:

They are trying to hold Arizona off while the MSM skews the facts (Propaganda) to the public and La Raza re-writes the ROE for Illegal Aliens. So when Gov. Brewer and Sheriff Joe give Holder the final one fingered salute, Holder will have legal standing to send the federal boots to stomp the hooligans in to submission and Holders actions will be palatable to the public.

But I do believe that the Feds and the Administration want to maintain control of the States, and they will go to extremes to prevent one State from going rogue. Because if one States bucks the system it is quite possible that it will go viral.

What if Texas was the first state to move on immigration before Arizona? Would the climate today be different? Why after several months, is Arizona still standing alone?

The guy below is not joking about Holders frivolous lawsuits, namely SB 1070, and the shenanigans this Admin is pulling. I like what he has to say and agree with him regarding Arizona being hauled onto the world stage for so called Human Rights violations, it’s retarded.

Arizona Republican state Sen. Frank Antenorri told Fox News on Monday that he thinks it is an insult to the American people, who overwhelmingly support the state's right to enforce the law, to include Arizona in the report.
He added that nothing in the lawsuit makes any mention of human rights or the 14th Amendment guaranteeing equal justice. The Justice Department argued the 10th Amendment in its suit, claiming that the state does not have the authority to enforce federal laws.
"Name a human rights violation. Name it," Antenorri demanded of the Obama administration.
"Tell the people of this country where in this U.N. report you are defining a human rights violation occurring in the state of Arizona. It's garbage," he said, adding, "I find it comical to kowtow to dictators in this global effort to demonize the United States.
"The federal government, the president should be ashamed of himself for putting this on an international stage with a commission that is put together by countries that commit actual genocide and atrocities," he added.

The DHS form only requires one of the documents from Column B and one of the documents listed from Column C (1 + 1) - the school was mandating one from Column B and two from Column C (1 + 2).
Prior to this year, the local colleges in the Phoenix area asked job applicants who were not U.S. citizens to show a driver's license, a Social Security card and their permanent resident card, commonly called a green card.
If the LATimes' report is correct, it was the 'and' which caused the problem - the DL is Column B; the SSAN Card and 'Green Card' are both Column C documents.
And so it goes...

There are several more states signing on.
But to answer your question, we'll use my Mom as example and the New City Hall.
The majority of people know that something smells, tastes and looks wrong. They know something needs to be done about it or it will cost them.
But most of the people don't want to be the first, they don't want to offend anyone, they don't want to stir up trouble and they don't wish to be at odds with certain parties.
They want someone else to start the fight.
So my 78 year old Mom makes her way to the City Council Meeting were they are proposing a New City Hall until the pretense they have run out of room....I have been told the city attorney 'Your Mom can be a real pain in the ass'.
Mom: You don't need to build a new city hall building, you need to use the space you have.
CC: But we are leasing that space.
Mom: End the Lease then, it is cheaper than building.
Mom: You bought the old school 2 years ago for 2 million dollars, you could have used that space but you leveled it and know we have a vacant lot.
CC: Well....
Mom: Don't give well. What ever you do cost me and everyone else in the city money. The last thing we need in this economy is more debt.
Mom: The last boondoggle you sold us on was the Walmart store. Were the hell did all that new revenue go...
And then for days after, people called her and thanked her for speaking up. And after Mom spoke up others soon followed.
The City will be glad when she is dead. After she dies they can resume the proposal ;)

Purely IMO, it isn't a lack of gonads, but rather an over-abundance of greed. Someone, somewhere has convinced the politicians to follow the current path, probably using a combination of money and votes.
Who might that be? Perhaps we should ask who benefits from the situation as it is. Those who directly benefit from low labor costs might be one such group. No doubt there are others.
On a national level, keep in mind, if wages are kept down, there can be no inflation - because as soon as prices rise, demand falls. Considering the powerful inflationary policies currently in place, using illegal immigration as one tool among many to keep the numbers in check seems like a possibility.
