View Full Version : What is on your wrist?

Look down at your wrist. What are you guys wearing for a timepiece? While this might be a good thread for the gear/kit forum, there are other occasions besides war in which proper time must be kept. Business meetings, kids football games, weekend dive trips, EMS calls, Dropkick Murphys concerts and yard mowing to name a few. After a year hem-hawing around and looking/wearing, I picked out this watch for my Father's Day present from the twins and wife. Omega Planet Ocean co-axial 45.5mm. Having worn it for a few months now, I still am more and more pleased with it. It is everyday wear for me and went on a couple of water jumps this month and some trips to the range. It gets most of the wrist time with the occasional wearing of my G-shock and Luminox to break things up. About the only thing I absolutely take it off for is running. I wear my Garmin 405cx HRM/GPS for that. What are you guys wearing and why? Any watch fanatics out there?

I used to wear one like this (pic 1) which also had a small compass (pic 2) on the band so that the compass was facing up on my right wrist when I was gripping my weapon. I am right handed and wore it on my right wrist so I could glance down at the compass without moving my hand from the pistol-grip and taking my finger off of the trigger. I also had a piece of black electrical tape covering the dial of the watch so it couldn't be seen at night - I would lift the tape by its corner if I needed to check the time.

I still wear my watch on my right wrist. This confuses people until I tell them how it all came about - and then they really give me strange looks.

I still wear a plain faced, self-winding, dial-face watch - I will not wear a watch which is digital or makes any sort of beeping noise. Old habits die hard. ;)

And so it goes...

Sir Richard, that is the same type I wore for years when I was in the army, went to college and became a cop....then it just disappeared. I loved that watch.
Big H just bought me a new one...similar but with a bevel ring and two time zone settings, alarm, date and day, alarm and nite light. Only thing it won't do is make a martini for me..... :D

My Submariner is in 12.000 feet of water between San Pedro and Catalina Island. We were on our way to Catalina to go marlin fishing. A Broadbill Swordfish jumped, I yelled," Sword!" and pointed. As I pointed, the wrist band of my watch caught on the corner of the windshield of the boat, snapping one of the pins holding the band and Bye! Bye! Rolex. I had paid $172.00 for it at the PX in Bangkok in 1972. I went to get a new one and was a little shocked that they had gone up in cost a shade. About $3000.00 worth. I now have an Omega Sea Master. I think it is equal to or superior to the Submariner.

I wear a Suunto Observer. I got it years ago, gave it to Chris when he graduated the Q course and it was returned to me after he crossed over. I put a new battery in it in 2003 just before I gave it to him, and it had the SAME battery until about 3 months ago - just about 7 years!!!

With my lousy eyesight, it is hard to see the numbers at times, but I will NEVER not have that watch on!!!

... and this time, I truly mean this --- MOLON LABE!

Seiko "Automatic" Dive Watch - arm movement keeps it working. I've had it since '71. (I was told SF no longer bought Rolex because a senior SGM had bought stock in Seiko.)

I lost it for 6 months in '89 (same type of incident as Mark46th), but someone found it at the bottom of the "Blue Hole" in Santa Rosa, NM and returned it to me.

Sweet, already love where this thread is going. I'm a total watch junkie. Unfortunately I can't afford the ones I really want, but such is life. I wear several (I have 15 watches thanks to my old man who has the same addiction). My Dad is worse that I am, somewhere in the neighborhood of 30, but he keeps giving me his old ones as he gets new ones. If it were to be said I collect anything it would have to be watches.

I'm really fond of the Wenger watches (5 of the 15), they make a good, practical, and dependable product - and they're within my price range. I wear three of those fairly regularly, but I replaced the bands on all of them with those NATO style bands (not due to military anything, they're just the bands I like). I have another I wear when fishing, then a couple I alternate for dressy occasions/wearing a suit. For those occasions, I have a titanium Citizen, an Invicta Skull, a Tag with a Batman symbol, and a limited edition numbered Joker watch (can you tell I'm a fan of Batman?). then I have a couple aquired over the years "just because" but they don't see much wear.

The ones I wear most often are those pictured. And if you haven't tried the NATO style bands, I recommend them. They're inexpensive and hold up well to wear and tear, dry quick and no velcro - not to mention look nice too. Found a good site for knock-offs too, will be getting a knock-off Patek when the check comes in (I don't have $15K to drop on a watch, not that I would even if I did).

Funny, as I'm typing this my dad calls and tells me to relay he wears a Hamilton Kahki most often. Says it's this one (http://forums.watchuseek.com/f362/confessions-rebellious-wis-review-hamilton-khaki-field-automatic-322410.html). Started talking about military suppliers of watches then on to Valjoux movements - the man really knows his watches.

And if the SGM's last name started with "P"...well, there ya go...

Nice watches guys. Mark's submarined Submariner story hurts my heart. +1 to all the bell and whistle free automatics. There is something about a small mechanical masterpiece that holds 1 or 2 seconds/day when there are 86,400 seconds in that day and it beats 7 or 8 times/second.

Started off with a Seiko auto-winder dive watch that I picked up in the Benning PX for $75. Wore it to some hooah school, it wound up so tight it ker-sploded.

Next 2 watches were Timex Ironman. One got yanked off my wrist by risers(bad exit---don't ask), the other got smashed quite a few times doing various stuff, and the face finally fell off.

Have had my present Suunto Metron for 8 years. Have changed the band 3 times, the bezel is gone. Pretty good watch, but it doesn't like diving so much(at about 60 feet it reads "-27,000").

My current watch is a Citizen Eco Dive Titanium, light, 200M, solar panel on the face. I really like the Citizen Ti ECO, it's light, not to flashy, and modestly priced. (C pic w/NAA 22 mag) PS: Do not try to bust chops because the NAA has some DISCOLORATION on the barrel. Try to carry in your Speedo and see what happens..

Before that I wore a Citizen Titanium Dive Watch/Computer. It had some design problems,, On night dives, you could not distinguish between the hour & minute. The other problem was the watch was designed to start the drive comp as soon as you hit the water, automatically,, really good idea,, but don't sweat.. Sweat would start the drive comp,, net net it ran the batteries down in 12-15 months. The watch HAD TO BE sent back to the factory for a new battery or you lose the warranty.

Before that, I had three sub-mariners,, no batteries,, but bi-annual trips to the factory for maintenance..

While I was active, I had a couple on the Timex issue plastic watches, like Richard shows. They were a very good deal. I think they ran around 7 USD. Lasted much longer than they should have. AND they were USGI issue...

D-good thread.

I had long been a Timex Ironman fan, until I got my G-Shock right before joining up. It's been on my wrist ever since, through thick and thin, and "sucks to be you if you don't have one" to everyone else.

Being a shorts and tshirt guy for most of what I do, that was ok. I've recently been required, on several occasions, to throw the old suit on for a wedding or funeral and have quickly realized how silly that green-banded awesomeness looks pushing up the sleeve of my Brooks Brothers suit.

Time to mature a little, grow up a little, and get a "dress watch"...

Y'all have provided some great suggestions! :lifter

I seem to remember that in SF back in the mid 80s the Seiko dive watches were vogue so I went out and bought one. I couldn't see spending four figures on a European made watch and then taking it out into the field and bashing it.

The replica Rolex watches that some of the junior enlisted guys used to wear were cute and I was always curious as to where they got them.

This thread has potential Gentlemen!

In my 16 years (to date) of conventional soldering I've been though a few time pieces..

went through a phase of analogue watches..Citizen promaster and Citizen automatic..

The promaster was an excellent watch cept the battery required changing approx every 2 years and it had to be sent to the UK to be be resealed (pressurized ) The automatic lasted all of 1 year before it started losing minutes( Kinetic wind up watch) so I decided to go back to G-shock.

I now have a G-shock Riseman.. Solar/atomic Clock/ altie / Barometer.

The replica Rolex watches that some of the junior enlisted men used to wear were cute. Was always curious as to where they got them. Ahh . . . you must mean the Ro-Rex. With the jumping second hand. My favorite was the "Prez-re-dental" model.

I met a Squadron Commander from the SERE School at Fairchild and paid him a compliment about his "Pres"it without really looking at it. He laughed and noticed the second hand on my Sub glided. It was the beginning of a good friendship.

In the field I wear the one they issued me.
Like Richard I have that little compass. No tape for me, they'd invented velcro by the time I got a watch.

Regarding those watches that beep . . . when they first came out, we would pull a listening-halt a few minutes before the hour to see if we were walking into an ambush.

I've recently taken an interest in watches and have acquired (clockwise)

Panerai 005, 00048 and 00051

Second pic shows same watches with the addition of a Tag Heuer Tachymeter Chrono

Just had a daily wear Pathfinder find its way off of my desk at the office, apparently someone else needed it more than I did.

Third pic is Rolex Sub which has recently found a new owner. It was too small for my wrist and looked like a ladies watch!

Yeah, those are a new kind of watch right? You NEVER have to change a battery in them, you just wind them up. How convenient! ;)

I thought that Panerai made some Auto's? If I pick up a manual wind (which I will eventually) it will probably be a small vintage dress watch. Something like a vintage Seamaster or Brietling. I am also looking at one of these three as my next purchase-

1- Garmin 305 series gps w/heart rate monitor when running, etc.

Demo knife...

I recall "demo knife" and a few said Divorce papers, too. Now, Project Sigma gave men a Rolex GMT master. I paid 85 bucks for that Red and Blue GMT in Jan 68. I also had an omega speedmaster professional that I wore in the bush with second reaction company. That damn Omega could not take the heat/humidity as the face showed rust marks. I paid 80 bucks for the damn Omega.

Now, I also bought another Rolex GMT in 70 as my father was there again in summer 70 to 71. He charged me $125, which is what he paid. Now, he had the sub ,too. That sub had no date. It was highly collerctible.

In 73,. I had the first wife fly to Hong Kong with me in Dec. after meeting her in Seoul. I bought that 18K Presidential day/date for just under 1200. It was all factory with no Hong Kong band. Now, in 89, I bought a datejust with Rolex factory diamond dial and a B006.

In 97 I bought a stainless steel daytona with black face for 5300 plus tax. I flew up the road to Johnson City, TN. I sold that on Ebay. Then in 98, I bought another for 5300 plus 5 % tax from these same folks. I sold that again.

They were bringing 6500-7200 plus on Ebay then. NY and LA were as high as 8500 then. Now, the only Rolex I have lost money on is the datejust. It is a great watch, but; you can find a used 18K/SS with diamond dial and diamond bezel for 1600-1800. That would be a quickset up to 89 or so. Model 16013.

The X9's use ALOT more power with GPS turned on, otherwise they're good for about a week. G-shock is tough. I've lost quite a few watches in big surf and banging them on stuff (posts dislodging), so far not with a G-Shock.

My wife gave me Casio G-shock about 5 years ago. This is the one that will go with me to the next step. Don't think my wife knows it but I think I value that watch more than my wedding ring. It's the one of the first things she gave me. I have it on more often, taking the ring off for fitness and hard work where I may lose or damage it. Not to many bells and whistles, which is just the way I like it, but I love the dual time, date, stop watch that I use constantly with training, the alarm, pretty much everything about it.

Teddy we thought a $100 was a ton of money back in the 65-66 timeframe even. Hell, my paycheck was not even 78 bucks a month until late 66. OCS was temp E-5 with 200 a month. Big time. I had 2 SSG HF platoon leaders in SOG in mid 68 who did not even make 600 a month. Those men earned their pay as did every SF man. I gained a ton of respect for A Team men in early Jan 69 when I was at one launch site. Charles had years to zero in on those camps. The rotten bastards blew up the A teams beer frig. I gave them ours and got more beer flown in ASAP via 20th SOS. I hope these men today get paid a a lot.

Teddy, I recall my old man was an LTC in 61. He could not afford AC until 63 .It was years before the Army paid troops.

In the early 80’s I was part of a small group seminar given by a large Bear like Ukrainian fellow who instructed us to call him “Jake”. “Jake” was stationed on Guam where he was diving a great deal; he had a Rolex, wore a Korean era type Patrol cap with a Green Beret rolled up in his thigh pocket. He always seemed to have a piece of baguette and cheese or, a bag of Betel nuts. He walked with a rolling gait, had long staff/walking stick, and when he spoke, his wisdom was direct, earthy, and his accent seems to have contributed to most of his lessons sticking with me.
Jake’s seminar was conducted in the woods over two weeks, and covered several martial subjects. He passed on a great deal of field craft but, there are two pieces of wisdom that stand out. The first had to do with watches. He was teaching us various methods to get away when we were being chased by a group of unpleasant folks intending us harm. He taught us to quickly make a booby trap out of several different types of explosive devices. He preferred using a Rolex, and a trip wire. I do not remember his exact words but, it was something to the effect that “when you are being chased, anyone of those ******** will reach down and pick up a Rolex, tripping the booby trap and buying you five minutes to run your *** off and get away but, nobody will pick up that plastic POS you (he pointed at me and the plastic dive watch I got at the PX) have . I came into a little money a few months later and bought a Rolex Sub Mariner that I have today. I have dived with it, jumped with it, and worn it in a number of countries I have applied Jake’s (and others QP’s) wisdom and applied it to my travels in a variety of different jungles, and situations. I always wear enough “Bling” to get to somewhere else (Just In case). I still have the issued watch and compass that Richard posted pictures of, and they both still work just fine.
The second thing he passed on was his lamentations on modern communication systems that enabled the President to act as a “squad leader” and “interact” with ground forces in the midst of a real world mission half a world away. I suspect some of you know the mission Jake was referring to.
(Note: Jake’s actual comments edited for consumption by General audiences)

Maybe - but it is also sehr schnelle und einfache to make a water-resistant timing device (up to 12 hrs) out of one of those cheap issued watches with a plastic dial cover - not so with a Rolex. ;)

Now that is one of the handiest pieces of advice I have heard in a long time. Also and excellent justification for purchasing expensive watches the HH6 isn't fond of. Well she is at least fond of making fun of me for it. Was looking at watches at the dive shop the day before yesterday and she spent a good 20 minutes with the lady who runs the shop lambasting me for my "box o' watches". I've gotten a lot of good ideas from this thread for new purchases, but I'm afraid I still won't be able to afford that Patek mentioned for many years to come...

Blitzz, I could be wrong. As far as I know. Resistant to 660ft would be the right term, but that does not mean the watch can be take to that level during a dive.

I think this has always been a good chart to go by

Technical Water Resistance Classification (ISO 2281)
Water Resistance Classification
The "Water Resistant" mark has come to replace "Water Proof" and is now described by the following ISO-Standard 2281:

Declaration on dial or back

NO DECLARATION
This model is NOT water resistant.
Any water contact should be avoided.

WATER RESIST
This model is resistant to minor and Accidental Splashes.
Greater water contact should be avoided

WATER RESISTANT 30M
(3 ATM / 100 Feet) *
Protected in everyday life, bathing, accidental splashes, short swimming or car washing - it is resistant against perspiration, water vapor, rain drops.
It is tested for water resistance up to 3 ATM, and must be able to survive 30 minutes under water at a depth of 1 m (3 feet) followed by 90 seconds under a pressure corresponding to 30 meters

WATER RESISTANT 50M
(5 ATM / 160 Feet) *
Protected in everyday life, bathing, accidental splashes, short swimming, car washing, parachuting, hang gliding and skiing - it is resistant against perspiration, water vapor, rain drops.
It is tested for water resistance up to 5 ATM corresponding to 50 meters

WATER RESISTANT 100M
(10 ATM / 300 Feet) *
Protected in everyday life, swimming, snorkeling, mountain climbing, parachuting, hang gliding, skiing and all kinds of sports challenges
It is tested for water resistance up to 10 ATM corresponding to 100 m

WATER RESISTANT 200M
(20 ATM / 660 Feet) *
Protected in everyday life, free diving without scuba gear, and all kinds of water sports.
It is tested for water resistance up to 20 ATM corresponding to 200 m

WATER RESISTANT 300M
(30 ATM / 1000 Feet) *
Protected for scuba diving to a depth of 30 meters, for 2 hours.
It is tested for water resistance up to 30 ATM corresponding to 300 m

WATER RESISTANT 500M
(50 ATM / 1650 Feet) *
Protected for scuba diving to a depth of 50 meters, for 2 hours.
It is tested for water resistance up to 50 ATM corresponding to 500 m

* The metres value does not relate to a diving depth but to the air pressure used in the course of the water resistance test. (DIN 8310, ISO 2281, NIHS 91-10)

.
The term "waterproof" was discontinued starting in the late 1960's. This change was brought about from several government organizations, including the Federal Trade Commission in the USA, who were investigating truthfulness and accuracy of product labeling and advertising.

"Waterproof" was considered to have misrepresented the products as more capable of preventing the entry of water under normal use circumstances than they were actually capable of. Specifically, diving-type watches never have been completely 'proof' of water entry under normal use and within the stated depth ratings. The seals that keep water out are not completely impervious and their effectiveness can be reduced over time with age, deterioration, and exposure to chemicals.

The term "water resistant" is now used to describe such watches. There are no technical differences between a waterproof watch and a water resistant watch--they use the exact same methods and technologies to keep water out. The difference is only in what term was considered to appropriate to describe it at the time it was made.

..Of course you're not wrong, so a 660ft (20 Atmospheres) rating should be able to safely accommodate a SF driver to 130 ft depth.

Thanks for your correction.

I actually have this watch. It's cheap, display is very easy to read -- big digits and good contrast, handled countless laps in a chlorinated pool and does take a beating, but it's a little too small/thin and girly for daily wear.

My wife used to harass me about wearing a "chick watch". I eventually gave it to her. She wears it all the time. Maybe that was the plan all along.

Except, of course, when the hands, or lume stickers, or hour markers, or date window bezels fall off the dial, and swim inside the watch. Or, when you send their watch back to them when it arrived new and unserviceable. They charge you $28 dollars to ship it, keep it for three to six months, then you receive it the same way you sent it to them - unrepaired. And, when you inform them, they ask you to resend it for $28 (again).

Or, the fact that their front man - eh, "Technical Brand Manager" - was discovered to have been a Navy SEAL poser by "VeriSEAL".

Other than that, it's a great brand.

I have worn an Omega Speedmaster Day Date since 1980 when I bought in in Lugano Switzerland. Apart from wanting the "Moon Watch" for ages, I wanted a watch with a stopwatch function for CRW competition events where I could easily see the exact elapsed time in the air. The Speedmaster served me very well until I thought that I had lost it. Doing a skydive from a DC3 over a dropzone alongside a lake, I was back-floater, hanging outside the Dak with just my left toe in the back corner of the door and my left arm holding me against the side of the aircraft. We were doing an 8 Way RW team practice from 10 000 ft AGL and on exit, the bracelet of the watch caught on the sharp return edge of the door and broke. I felt it happen, and saw my dear watch go into free fall without me attached. I put my head down to chase it, but it accelerated away from me, so I quickly gave up and joined the formation that was by now waiting for me. I had a sight picture of where the watch was heading when I gave up chasing it, so on landing, I thought of looking for what was bound to be a piece of useless metal, but an interesting memento. Landing alongside the lake, I walked back to the DZ scanning the lake shore for my watch. On the second pass, I saw a glint of silver in a few inches of water and on investigation, I found my watch buried in the clay-type mud in the lake edge, with just a bit of bracelet showing. Imagine my relief when I found the watch still running, totally unharmed, apart from the broken pin that attached the bracelet to the watch body . Here it is , many years later and still going like a train.

My dad had one of these when I was growing up. He bought it with "proceeds" from a poker game in Vietnam.

Always wanted one and finally found one on the secondary market. Spent a few dollars sending it for a factory overhaul and it's been running great for the past 10 years.

24 hour dial took a little getting used to.

Lots of comments when people look at it.

I have had it serviced once when it began misting up when swimming about ten years ago. It started misting up again (pushbutton seals I think) two years ago and I took it to the Omega agents here in Johannesburg and asked them to quote me before doing the job. They took two weeks, and I heard nothing from them, so I went in to see them. They said it would cost R2500 to fix. In spending power, this is about the same as $2500 to you. I told them to forget it and give the watch back. They then tried to charge me R450 to quote on the job. I made a bit of a public fuss and the owner told me to take the watch, no charge. When I got home, I tried a shower, and it didnt mist up. I then hopped into the swimming pool and found that the watch was cured. Bargain service.

Talking about watches, I remember in November 1984 while in SLJM school at Bad Tolz, an XO 1st LT from 1/10th lost his Rolex Submariner on our night time graded jump. He said he heard a pinging noise upon exiting the aircraft. Obviously he didn't find it that night but I understand he and his buddy went back out there at first light on the next day to search, I don't recall if he ever found it.

I really like my Suunto Ambit. Currently using it here over in A-Stan and I get pretty reliable satellite coverage and tracking time is anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute and a half. Once I am tracking it allows me to use Lat/Long/MGRS and a few other options.

Battery life is pretty good--using GPS constantly I get a good 48 hours plus. It has to be recharged afterward using a nonstandard USB to 'Suunto' charger. I have a rechargeable battery pack (wallet size) that is pretty good at providing up to 3x recharges that I bring out with me. I hate relying on a battery powered watch with less than 100000 hours of life...but hey, its pretty good and is not obnoxious.

POI's/routes/Navigate To functions are all reliable.

Debo: I've been extremely happy with their stuff, and they've got outstanding service as well. Bezel inlay on this one is sapphire. I think I've had it for about a year and a half or so, case has dings and scuffs on it, but not a single blemish on the crystal or bezel inlay. And not a single issue with the watch. Rugged, keeps great time, and the lume is lighthouse bright. I also have a Whitebeard that I'm very fond of. That one is a really classy looking piece. Whitebeard lives on a ZULU band.

PRB: Aw, it's only 44mm. ;) Alright, I do whack it into the occasional door frame, but I do like a larger watch. Reminds me of a story. I was at Sniper Comp last year when I found the fellow who led our convoy to the range standing in front of my table. His bearing made me say to myself "This guy must be a SGM." We got to talking and he said "You know what they say about guys with big watches..." I said "I may be hung like a mouse, but a well trained mouse." I was wearing the SM1000. He was wearing what appeared to be a ladies watch. Of course, his wrists were like tree trunks, so it was probably a normal human sized watch. :D

You and me both. I really dig the bronze. Especially like how it ages.

With you on the Omega as well. Long time fan of the brand. Believe me, if I could live with the $5-$8K that a clean example of the 70's Seamaster 1000 is going for now, I'd be wearing one of those instead of the Helson. But that's some big money. That's CNC milling machine money (or at least a down payment).

I have a Marathon Diver’s Automatic (GSAR) as my daily watch. I’m very happy with it as it is probably the best all-around watch I have ever owned, and I would recommend it to anyone. http://www.marathonwatch.com/product/divers-automatic

Below is an older review of the watch that breaks it down and is very well done. The reviewer states “The crown (winding knob) is a 4 position knurled design that looks like it would be right at home on a creation by John Browning.” I had to laugh in agreement, as that pretty much sums up my take on this entire watch. It’s not only a super accurate automatic with an ETA 2824, but it is machined absolutely rock solid.
http://www.survivalmonkey.com/threads/marathon-gsar-automatic-watch-review.18869/

They sell direct to the Gov through GSA. Also, they set up at certain shows like the annual AUSA conference in DC (where I got mine). As an alternative to paying retail, you will be hard pressed to beat their show prices - the savings are significant.

My only question since owning one: does this watch make my Glock look fat?

I wore the Submariner to travel, put the GMT in a locked suitcase. Yep, on arrival, no Rolex GMT. I have gradually moved up various Rolex to my current Lower class Gold President. Standard issue 5th SF Group in the late 1990's.
It holds to within a second or two per week.
I like the strap to be of the form "start on one side, go through a bar,
under the watch, through the opposite bar."
Then if one bar breaks loose, the watch might flop around,
but it won't go into free fall.

I wanted a non-flashy watch for a trip to Honduras. Bought my Citizen-Eco drive in 2008 for $19 because the day/month is in French and the American distributor could get rid of them. It's going for $89 on Amazon today.

It never needs new batteries because it solar-charges through the face and the crystal is hard enough that it's never suffered a scratch. It's been below 180 feet several times and has survived umpteen thousand handgun rounds without complaint. I did ditch the canvas two-piece band (it starts to smell funky) and replaced it with a nylon one-piece from Countycomm for $6. It doesn't beep, tick, interface with my phone, ofrtell me my coords but it does tell accurate time and I never take it off. The luminous paint is even and works well.

All in all a great little watch.

Nah, I'm prolly there...these progressives may be great for driving (not so great for driving at night the reflections from headlights particularly suck...but that's another story) and reading - but I began thinking about when I hear that proverbial bump in the night and might not have the specs on. Or, the specs get knocked off...various locations and scenarios...thanks for your endorsement/opinion of CT.

To get back on topic as I'm a guest...Ball watch or Casio or TAG depending on circumstances/occasion. I learned about the Ball brand from a comment on here year's ago. Nice tritium.

If you look - learn something new here most every day !

I've never had the problem you mentioned with progressives...but then I only we wear top of the line Varilux/Crizal/Transitions!:munchin

I'll have to check - but I thought mine were top of the line. They sure were spendy enough to be top of the line. I do not believe that they were Transition lenses. Anti-reflective, anti scratch, Flexon frames, etc., etc., for some reason I thought they were Varilux lenses.

I HATE wearing glasses - but not as much as I HATE not seeing shit. I tried contacts last year for about a day - my fat sausage fingers didn't like my eyes - I nearly put out my own eye trying to get them bad boys in and out. No go.

I am scheduled for annual eye exam in next couple of months so I'll make sure to double check the list of lenses available to me with your list of favorable lens brands. Cheers !

It's been about 3 years since purchasing this one new. Holds time to within a few seconds every month. I couldn't ask for a better timepiece.

I brought my Maratac GPT-2 (Automatic Movement) and Suunto X-Lander Military. I've been wearing the Maratac most of the time. I've been looking at a Sinn U1 or U2 as my next purchase.
