I was at a airport last night and saw this older gentleman wearing a Vietnam veteran's hat and several other items on the hat. I noticed beneath his veteran's jacket he had a airborne Mike team shirt. I approached him and asked him about it. He lit up like a lamp as I told him how much I appreciated him and his service. He went on to say he served as a Green Beret alone for six years. He said he did several missions being part of a Mike team. He was a very humble man and the flight crew mentioned how quiet and pleasant he was. He shook my hand and lightly embraced me. It made my day as I know my interest in him made his day. I never asked him his name. Just thought I would share.

You met a Special Forces trooper who had been in Mike Force.

Mobile Strike Force-one each per Corps in RVN.

Possibly the toughest job there.

Yes Mike. I was not very familiar with their history but I researched it and understand it better now. I have so much respect for that man.

Thank you for your kindness to a Mobile Strike Force (MIKEFORCE) vet. I had the honor of serving with such men in 1967-68 and in 69-70 as a member of the 4th Corps MIKE FORCE. They are a special breed of SF trooper.
