What will you do with it? Gaming, internet, word processing/ home office?

For basic use, it is good. The more you want to do with it like gaming or serious multimedia, the more I would change/ add.

If possible add a firewire port as they're increasingly useful for peripherals such as cameras etc.

What brand? Your base config is good for the average useage.

I would make sure that it has a 800 Mhz front side bus. Personally, I would get a faster processor, 3.6, but I do a lot of rendering and movie editing.

Depending on what the primary use of the PC is, a decent video card. Decent would depend on what you're using the PC for but at least 128 Meg. Good sound card, network card w/ modem for backup, CDRW/DVD (software will soon be coming out in DVD format).

Don't forget the warranty. I've got Dells here and purchased the gold warranty. It's proved to be a financial lifesaver when things have broke down. One year is ok but warranties are like beer; the more the better.
